@@ruthfrancis7775 I’m completely chill. It’s not rude to express that you don’t like something the staff do. Not all commission based associates act that way I’ve just found at those locations that’s what the employees tend to do.

​@@ruthfrancis7775 it's just how Lisa (and I) felt and that's totally valid! Of course it's a sales company and they push workers for commission, but it can still leave a customer feeling stressed out especially if they're an introvert. Not an ideal experience for everyone but also understand that workers could have a boss down their neck about it and are just doing their job.

Happy New Year Jackie! All the best for you and your family 🤗 I had a terrible experience recently at sephora as well, was at black Friday. I was in shock for 2 days maybe...So I asked for help to choose my shade on makeup forever foundation, one assistant called another and this person went and choose 2 colour's for me. She invated me to sit and 1st applied the darked shade on 1 side of my cheeks, but in a small area. We noticed was too dark and she reached out for the other shade. Problem was that I had too much skincare products on my skin and specially mineral sunscreen that did not allowed foundation to sit well on top. So she decided to put the other foundation all over my face obviously with a lot of effort to blend it,and the result was just super patchy, super uneven. Last she said ah hope you are happy w the recomentation, she went to get the foundation and said here's the right colour. I organized something in my bag while she moved away and I simply left without any foundation, after checking in the mirror with my face looking like super pale as she didn't reach for any blush or bronzer. I just left as fast as I could. I don't own much foundations or makeup in general but for sure even if I can't get a colour right, buying online can be a much better experience.

Sometimes I'll ask for a sample of 2 close shades to take home and apply them at home and check in daylight on my own time and then order the one that's best online. Bit of a hassle though!

I had an experience like that in Sephora in NY when we went for my Mum’s birthday in 2018. I felt really overwhelmed, intimidated and didn’t buy anything! I found Sephora in France a lot better as I feel like they’re smaller, more of them and therefore more manageable? The UK technically has a Sephora online now, but it doesn’t have everything that an American or French one would have. I feel a lot more comfortable going into Boots (I think America has them?), even though the range is large you’re left alone unless you ask for something. Overall, I find a mix of in-store and online shopping works for me!

I have never experienced this at a Sephora in Europe, but in China I avoid Sephora like a plague, because following someone around is standard service in China and the MUAs there (if you can call them MUAs) will get very pissy if you turn their service down. That is why you don't see a single soul at their brick and mortar stores, and only shop there online.
