Like Jim Stafford sings, "I don't like spiders and snakes..." But I do like your "make do or do without" approach to scrap quilts. Sometimes the most fun is figuring out how to make your fabric work for you. Just because something doesn't match doesn't mean it doesn't go together. Happy quilting and Happy Christmas.

Flexible is having a plan then getting a call about an ultrasound appointment that they forgot to let you know about. Since it's for tomorrow morning and they're hard to reschedule, I had to do tomorrow's tasks today, including making 10 bowl cozies for family and cooking. My sister is gifting me a box of 2" strips that is marked for a log cabin quilt. She wants to see what I'll do with them. I love your idea of the piano key border with random width strips. @@amydement. I think it's payback for the 2k 5.5" squares I cut for her. She has me way out paced in the charitable giving. She's pretty amazing.. I'm pretty sure she made at least 63 Christmas pillowcases that went to brighten a veterans home, teens aging out and others. Just when she thinks she's going to run out of fabric, she's gifted more. Hence my gift.

@amydement. I wish we could share pictures here. A couple years ago, the science museum in Boise Idaho had an incredible art display made entirely of insects and animals that had been recovered, cleaned, and then respectfully displayed in beautiful art installations.

Well you grow the creepy crawler things bigger in Texas guess I will stay in NY!! I always look at a pattern as a guideline then do my own thing. I guess it’s time to start wrapping Christmas presents 😅😅

I find them fascinating and unnerving at the same time. I love learning about spiders and insects and nature and how our world doesn’t work without them. I tell you, sometimes the pecan store is worth the trip just because it smells so good in there! ♥️

Hello Beautiful! I have been really into piano key borders lately. It uses up a lot of scraps and is so dynamic. I will sometimes float the piano keys in the background too. I seldom have large chunks of fabric, I tend to buy one yard cuts, so I can buy more variety. So I have always use different values of a given color to get to the total yardage required. My local quilt shop had end of bolt sale I went looking for fabric for Granddaughter a quilt didn't find that but found some cat prints I have trouble spending when it is on sale. My daughter-in-law kept finding 😂 more for me. At least I have enoigh to keek me busyfor a long time. Have enjoyed watching you every day. Wishing you and your family a blessed Holiday Season.
