i got my puppy right before you and i love that you’re so honest and real about what it’s like having a puppy! so many youtubers get puppies and act like it’s all sunshine and rainbows, when we all know how hard it can really be. i hope lennon has a great time and i can’t wait to see her back in the vlogs!

Is that a common thing to send your dog to training alone? I’ve never heard of that. 😳 We had trainings with our dog every weekend but we were the ones training him with the help of a professional. This other method sounds more convenient though.
@FloraGoodman3 жыл бұрын
it’s common if you can afford it 😂😂 it’s pretty pricy but i think a lot of trainers offer this option!
@melissag79503 жыл бұрын
Extremely common lol some board and train programs take puppies from 12 weeks to eight months old so they’re away all that time
@MaddieCidlik3 жыл бұрын
I hadn’t really heard much about it until I got a dog and started researching training options, but it seems to be pretty common and a lot of other dog owners that I’ve talked to did a board and train program and saw a huge difference with their dogs! it’s definitely just one of many options but I’m excited to have her come home and hopefully see a big difference☺️

It is probably only common in parts of the US... if you get a dog you should have the time to train your pet yourself because in the end you are the one „commanding“ him. If you want a perfect dog without effort - just for ur image, dont get a dog 😔 I mean you are not gonna send ur kids away either just to teach them how to behave
@FloraGoodman3 жыл бұрын
Emily luckily kids and dogs aren’t the same and shouldn’t be compared to each other. despite having all the time in the world some dogs so require more intense training from a professional. there’s a reason why dog trainers are a huge business and you need special certifications with hours on hours of training to get there. no need to be rude about other peoples choices just because it’s not something you would do

omg how old is Lennon? my puppy is 11 weeks old and i’m wondering the best age to send him to training :)
@MaddieCidlik3 жыл бұрын
Lennon’s about 5 months now! the trainer I’m using said that anywhere between 4-6 months is an ideal age for training😊
@Portia14163 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. You should start your dog training as soon as possible. By 6 months of age if not corrected, bad puppy behaviors are more solidified and are more difficult to reverse later. I’ve sent my dog to board training and they say to start as soon as you get them. My breeder (I have a golden retriever) instructed us to start at 10 weeks). Due to Covid we could not get our puppy training until he turned 9 months and we had to deal with a lot of bad behaviors and reverse them. My dog went to a 6 week board and train program to reverse some bad puppy behaviors he was still displaying at 9 months. Things like puppy biting still, jumping, leash pulling, not wanting to go into a crate etc. Just wanted to share another perspective. Start training as soon as possible. We visited my dog at the 3 week mark of training and couldn’t believe the change in him. He was walking right on our side on leash when before he would pull and Id almost face plant. He would heel as soon as I stop walking when on leash ever time. They were even able to have him lay down in the middle of the busy store isle, walk to the end of the long isle and he just lay there until the trainer released him to get up. There were other dogs and people with carts walking by and he still stayed in place off leash. The next three weeks were used to solidify off leash training. I can not recommend board and train programs enough! Our dog was getting so distructive in his behavior we couldn’t even enjoy him to the fullest. Now he’s so well behaved and my kids can actually play with him. (Before he would jump and still puppy bite so Kf was unsafe around my small children so I didn’t allow them to interact much with him for fear of them getting hurt. Now, no issues. He’s a completely different dog!
