My grandmother was originally from Scunthorpe but immigrated to Canada in the early 1900’s. In 1968 she and her sister, Hilda and Margery, went back to England for the first time since they were children. This was a very big deal and because they had very limited funds the presents they bought back were especially precious. My present was a stick of Blackpool rock, the most exotic thing I had ever seen, and an Enid Blyton book. The book contained 2 Famous Five stories and was topsy turvy with one book on one side and then you flipped the book around to read the other. To this day that is one of the most fabulous gifts I have ever received.

I absolutely love Shirley Hughes books, my granddaughters favourite was Digger and we had to read it every time she came to sleep over, my grandchildren are all grown now but I still keep all their favourites.
