The barstools are super cute! I love the way they look at the height they are I think that’s the style they were going for. Way too cute to be tucked under. And I also love that your arm can rest on the armrest comfortably while you lay your hand on the counter. So classy and cute. I’m glad you kept them.

Love your hair and the wig is very cute too. The stools are so sophisticated and stylish. I don’t know what material the legs are but if they are wood maybe you can hire someone to cut them about an inch and get adhesive cushions to put on the bottom so your floors are protected.

I'm 41 years old. I started getting my hair done at the salon when I was 14 in 1997. A wash, blow dry, and curl was $35. It was that price for years. I didn't see it jump up in price until after COVID. Now the salon I go to charge $75.

I’d say keep the bar stools they look really really good. As for speaking up for yourself, it was great that you stood your ground. I use to be like you someone who too use to feel the anxiety when speaking up because in my mind it was “starting problems” and I don’t like any confrontation. However, I found that I generally either didn’t get my expectations met or I’d get disrespected. I had to learn to become my own advocate. Over time it became a lot easier speaking up and it will for you too so keep doing it. Some people may not necessarily like it but that’s not for you to be concerned about so long as you aren’t being disrespectful. Regarding your nail tech, you were paying for a service and a lot at that and you should walk away feeling satisfied. Glad it worked out in the end. As always love your content.

The barstools look amazing. You can always hire a task rabbit or a carpenter to cut them a quarter of an inch take them under your counter. It may not be ideal because it will be an added price, but you’ll get the look you want.

I really line the barstools. They look very nice. Just an idea 💡... If you do want them to be able slide under the bar, you could take them to Home Depot to trim the top of each leg that meets the seat, and then reattach each leg with the same screws. Then they'll fit exactly how you want. Otherwise, keep them as is. But the look is very sophisticated and fits with your decor and colour palette.

I feel you on the not going back… I was getting my hair done for a wedding I was going to attend… I’m not in my home city as I’m a travel nurse…girl as I was in the chair it was not giving… I was so disappointed. I paid and decided that I would never go back to that salon. My cousin fixed my hair and slayed… and a week later I got an email from the salon saying it was closing down! The lady who did my hair literally played in my face she knew she the style I asked for was above her capabilities … welp now she gotta find a new place to work with her non talent self.

I had to look into it more when I was building my home to make sure I got the right ones so they would be able to slide under my island. The barstools look cute ! If you don’t like the height you can adjust the feet of them! Some barstools have it to where you can unscrew the little black feet on them and you can always order ones that are maybe lower in height to make the barstool lower! I used some on some barstools I have to make mine higher but I’m sure you can find ones that are a lot lower to make it the height you want!

What if you took the little feet off the stoles (like the black part) and use felt pieces instead. That will take off a few cm…and that’s if you can remove those little tabs.

Suggestion for the stools. You can geta. Task rabbit to saw some of the legs down and even it out so it can fit. Looks like 2 inches cut might be a good look. That way you get the best of both worlds

Bar stools are good. You did get the right height by getting the counter top. Some of them are made to go underneath but this one Is made to hit the counter of your island. You could cut the legs. My best friend has an airbnb and she had done this with her stools and bought rubber ends for the legs so they wouldn’t scratch the floor. You can go on task rabbit to get someone to do it for you. This is another route you could go.

Hey Sis you are absolutely right for speaking up for yourself. I use to not say anything and just be upset but Honey I’m in my Forties now just made 49 to be exact. Inflation is too damn high to be paying all this money for sup par work. I stopped getting full on nails a year ago because the quality simply isn’t there anymore. Plus as black women we spend the most money in the economy so you damn well better get what you pay for enough is enough.
