it’s completely understandable that Kanae feels the need to address Axia’s hiatus. However because Kanae focuses on only a one part of issue (“being called cute too much”), this clip out of context will confuse people unaware of the full situation. The situation is about respecting the personal boundaries of entertainers, the harassment campaigns from antis AND overprotective fans within the live chat and on social media. Please refer to Axia’s video addressing his situation on his channel. It’s important to remember that every streamer has different boundaries, so please do not treat everyone so casually. Please read the rules available in the description of every stream and on their wikis. Do not act like you Own a streamer, in any sense. Whether it’s treating them as a romantic partner or as a family member, remember that *you are a stranger to them*. They are individuals who do not need your permission or to make choices for them.

yes!!! its like the situation has been reduced to the “getting called cute” part, and then ppl who can’t be bothered to learn more turn around to say he’s overreacting without fully understanding the reason for his hiatus. I realize kanae wants to clarify things for his audience but context is so important especially given a lot of his viewers will just take his word despite getting told he hasn’t communicated with axia about this

@Kurocon @/nijisanji_app released an official announcement on twitter and on their website, all in Japanese obviously Axia is taking people to court over this, ( he wouldn't sue people for calling him cute in his chat ) So it's mostly a problem of diffamation Also there was a HUGE rumour of him dating honhima. Some of his antis even spammed his co-workers chat saying things like " is it true Axia and Hima are dating ?!?!? " ( I personally saw it myself ) So it's mostly defamation and harrassment

To be honest rather than an issue with the word "cute" it seems like axia had more of a problem with babying comments because the rate of "cute" said in his chat was one of the lowest after he told his chat months ago not to call him that. Or comments telling him what to do. And I think the spamming from antis in other chats probably led to it too. Thats why I feel like Kanae saying he's not the type to care about getting called cute is important because I don't think that cute needs to become a word that shouldn't be said to vtubers. Sorry if this is incoherent

i think the context is important in this one. i don't think axia hates the word 'cute'. just that it's demeaning sometimes especially when you tell people you don't like it. fans probably thought that he was a tsundere or something and pressed on with it but yeah... axia is not a tsundere. the guy means it.

also, during streams they keep calling him cute. it's kinda annoying when you see the same word get spammed. usually chat discusses the current events on stream but they just call him cute no matter what he does.

He mentioned in his own video that people would keep calling him cute in levels that is basically spam regardless of what he did instead of say, praise him if he played well or encourage him if he was failing so it felt like ppl weren't really paying attention to his content and just on his model and voice

at the end of the day, these vtubers are all adults behind their avatars. adults who know how to take care of themselves and know what is best for them. if they want to stay up until 6am or just not sleep at all, that is entirely up to them. if they don't like to be babied or called cute things, then don't. always read the rules in the description before chatting. you superchatting them does not mean you own them. superchat is a way to show your support for them, whether they want to do the thing you typed in your superchat is entirely up to them. it truly is sad to see how poorly the fans and anti-fans reacted to the whole situation. he only requested to be treated normally and yet somehow people turned to making hate campaigns. what has this world truly become.

He's been having issues with people babying him in his comments (which relates to the "cute" comments. I'm sure he doesn't mind if he felt it's like a relevant comment on something he did but he prob got annoyed with the constant comments). He'd tell people to stop with certain things and fans would respond like his mom "we know what's best for you" kind of things. Or if he'd get mad "oh, axia is in his rebellious stage!" (All people who work for Nijisanji are adults, many skewing into mid twenties and up at this point) He also felt uncomfortable with shipping content of him and his friends or if the fans didn't like something they would attack the person he collabed with and it caused problems so he constantly apologized to ppl for his fans behavior. Some fans also took his comments telling them to stop the wrong way and started saying he's homophobic and what not, but he just said "you can draw ship art as much as you want, idc, but don't tag me or my friends." Which is literally a reasonable thing to ask for. There's also been potential haters releasing slanderous comments but he didn't delve into that much, prob because it has to do with him trying to pursue this legally.

Someone translated Axia’s hiatus video you can go check it out but basically other than going on hiatus he wanted to set boundaries with some viewers that take it too far, like the calling him cute example. Many viewers would call him cute no matter what he does (like getting a kill in apex) and when he calls them out on it the viewers would say ‘our cute axia is in his rebellious stage’ and stuff. Ppl would also tell him how to run his channel even though it’s Axia’s channel and more.

I think some people can't fit into the 'kawaii desu', 'uwu' vtuber role. It's best for them to pursue a streamer job 😅. Someone like Belmond/ Yashiro/Vox maybe a good option tho
@rhynochi2 жыл бұрын
Being a vtuber does not inherently mean you are "uwu kawaii". Some people just have that mindset but it's not true at all. It's just another way for any streamer to stream without showing their face. If anything a majority of male vtubers are "uwu cute". They may do fanservice, but it's def different from how girls do fanservice. Axia doesn't produce super cutesy fanservice content anyway. He's mainly an FPS player. He just has a cute avatar and got the attention of audiences who babied him like they're his mom and at this point a good chunk aren't respecting his boundaries, forgetting he's an adult. And some fans develop this weird parasocial relationship where when their oshi changes their mind or finds out they don't like certain things anymore and state their opinion firmly, some fans get pissed, "How dare you?!" It's entitlement. The streamers literally aren't doing anything wrong, especially if they are actively going out of their way to not have that type of relationship with fans.

6:58 i guess i’m that type of viewer.. sometimes i just wanna watch to kill time, but i don’t understand the game. Even if i understand the game, i can’t speak Japanese to give “rich comment”. That’s one of the reason i barely give comments, so the time i commented it’s just「ナイス」🥹 sorry Kanae.. Also i feel sorry for Axia, imagine telling you don’t like something and a bunch of people just keep shoving it to your face. Who doesn’t get mad 😥. Even tho some livers haven’t set clear boundaries between them and their viewers, doesn’t mean there’s no limit to what you can do as a viewer.
