Captured and held in a prisoner of war camp for five years, Dr. Kushner's tale of torture, abuse, survival, humanity, and perseverance was both sobering and moving. As our closing keynote speaker for VMI's Vietnam symposium 'The Vietnam War at 50,' our audience leaves on a powerful note among the several personal stories they heard today.

I was shocked to hear him say, "I don't have PTSD"!! How could he not? Incredible! Amazing he survived & never had a nightmare either - extremely rare human being.

A remarkable man, intelligent and articulate. He endured more than most will ever understand and has the courage and clarity to not let it define him.

I will always respect him. I will always love his story. Dr Kushner saddened after we had been talking on fb and he realized I wasn’t a Republican (I am not even American and it’s my right to not love Trump) and one day I went to reply to a message and he had blocked me. He even disinvited one of his own fellow POWs to a reunion because he was a “collaborator” meaning a democrat. Really? I don’t find that Christian or patriotic to his fellow POW. I will never dislike the man but I’m still very hurt.

who are you, Barbie? I'm sorry you are hurt, but the person not invited was certainly a collaborator and has no political affiliation I'm aware of. He was courtmartialed and found guilty of collaboration. David Harker, who is my dear dear friend and was a participant and actually came to the VMI presentation, who I mentioned, is an ardent and politically active Democrat. By the way, I didn't vote for Pres Trump. I voted for #11, James K. Polk. He had little chance, as he died in 1849.

The Americans always love to play the role of victims. They love critics and hate self-critics. Only others peoples always inflicted and inflict horrible things to them - but they always remain on the side of the angels. They have astonishingly a long and good memory about the crimes indicted to them. But they forget their own ones against their own Indians, Jews, Negroes and Hispanics or the Germans, Vietnamese, Japanese, Koreans, Muslims... They remember well the incidents Lusitania, Pearl Harbour, 9.11 ....but they forget easily their own My Lai, Haditha, Abu Ghraib, Phoenix program, Christmas bombing, Dresden bombing, Hiroshima, Nagasaki ... Or simply they just granted themselves their most generous pardons and believe to remain Jesus´soldiers. May their God bless America as they always sing -again and again...

You seem to be a person in need of conducting your own fallacious perspective upon yourself, for you, like everyone who has ever lived, ought look in the mirror before casting your own projections and shrill stones at others. It must be miserable choosing to be this version of yourself. I pity you.
