England have given us some serious games in recent years and the last two they had red cards. Huge heart and determination to stay in the fight. I honestly feel like Ireland and England are the two best teams in the northern hemisphere when they get it right. They will definitely be hard to beat in twickenham. And let’s be honest there’s no such thing as a bad England, wales or France team. Just teams in transition. All of these teams will bounce back and it’s up to Ireland to still maintain the level we’re at or go beyond to make sure we stay ahead of them. Easier said than done though, a lot can change in sports in the space of a year. And if you look at Andy Farrell, his system wasn’t clicking and people pretty much wanted him out the door after a year. It just takes one scalp of a big team to galvanise a team and then everything clicks. For us it was England. So it’s only a matter of time before England come good again. Hopefully not this Saturday though haha.

Lots of predictable chat about England's attack/defence. Ireland score mostly off lineout possession. England will go after the Irish lineout to establish territory and possession as per the Scotland game and squeeze the game. There are not enough scrums for either side to gain dominance.

What I saw against Scotland was a stuttering team otherwise improving. Without the 23 errors England comfortably beat Scotland in Scotland. This does not mean England will win. There is still a gulf between the sides. An error free England performance will make Ireland work for the win but otherwise all smart money on Ireland. As an England fan, I am happy with the direction of travel but we are way too early to beat this Ireland.

The leaks coming from England point to a tournament plan where England build their new systems while winning the first three games before a two week specific focus on Ireland (the target victory pre tournament) and then a week into France. Obviously, they failed in Edinburgh but Big Jim is right: England are going to turn up massively on Saturday. Against them is that Marcus Smith the preferred number 10 was absent for the first 3 games (which blunted the back line development). Also, Ireland showed icy coldness in the cauldren in Marseilles and will not be flustered or rattled in Twickenham. I believe that was the big lesson from the RWC loss. Expect a high standard game, Ireland in the 30s but England in the 20s.

For me Gary is the best 13 we have although I like henshaw and he has been good I think he’s better of the bench because of his versatility as he can plan at 12 and 13 where Gary is good at 13 and could play at the back if needed
@MySubconsciousFriend8 ай бұрын
I think you are way too harsh on Gary Ringrose. You mention that he has cost us far too many tries. Far too many tries suggest not 3 or 4 ,but 5, 6, or more. I believe you realise by now that you are exaggerating wildly. I have watched every match and suspect you will fail to back up your statement, but I welcome you to prove me wrong. Ringrose is a great player, and has been consistently picked as first choice at 13. That doesn’t happen because they like his face. On this occasion I agree that Henshaw and Bundee Aki should be the centres, as they are both playing superbly well and Gary has been out for quite a while. McCluskey is a great replacement for Bundee, but if Robbie has to go off for any reason Gary will be the obvious choice to come off the bench.
@TineBeo8 ай бұрын
Sorry but Gary has 'cost us' more than 5/6 tries. It was 1 per game for a while. Some amount of spin behind his as BOD's annointed acolyte for his hallowed 13 shirt when he simply wasn't ready and despite some bad performances apart from some showy stuff he kept getting picked. Must be a great lad when the coach is about..but I look coldly at the team and want the best in each position. He's 3rd/4th choice for me in the centre. Its not black or white either..there may be times to bring him on when we are too symetrical at times and are geting read too readily..he can cause havoc in defences but does so too often to ours for my personal liking.Take it or leave it man this just a discussion.. @@MySubconsciousFriend
