This is good information, keep them coming, #97 subscriber here 😎 Something I want to see is Veeam integration with your VMware environment.

Thanks! Yes I’m a big fan on Veeam and it’s been on n my list to setup for my home lab. I’ll be sure to make a video of the setup process.

good content, thanks for newbie. Virtual routing and switching please!

Do you want this specific to VMware networking, or is any platform OK? I use pfSense VMs to make isolated development networks and it's been on my list to make a video for it.

@@sysadminshow yeah that would be great. Or even just the built in vm networking editor tool for vm workstation

Great video, pls I would like to know if your host system was in the same subnet as the EXSi vm.

My desktop computer is not in the same subnet as the ESXi host. I may not get to it in this video, but ultimately I am running my ESXi and vSphere servers in the 10.0.0.x subnet and most of my home equipment in the 192.168.1.x subnet. This has actually caused some issues when my router isn't accessible to route the traffic to them. I originally wanted to keep them separated for security reasons, but not longer see this as an issue. During my next rebuild I plan to put my core VMware ESXi and vSphere servers on the same subnet as my workstation and then run certain VMs on a separate subnet to isolate them for security reasons. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Sweet... thanks for sharing! Subscribed! Hey have you had any issues with USB drives wearing out running ESXi on them? I have a few that have gone out.
@sysadminshow3 жыл бұрын
I've never had that issue. I've been using USB for years and I run SD cards for production servers at work. Never had a failure. I try to stick with name brand, but maybe I've just been lucky.

@@sysadminshow Thanks for the response. I've had roughly the same experience: Back when HPe and Dell used to factory-ship with a pre-loaded internal SD card with current ESXi as a config option, occassionally they would fail after several years. But in home labs, even doggone brand-bame SanDisk and Samsung SD cards would die on me. I cant recall what brand the OEMs were shipping in their units. Subscriber #99 here!! :D I've got a similar tech-focused channel, would love the support!
