Isn't reversing the collapse of the universe also the exact same plot as Logopolis? Also I was always planning to read all of these books but you've convinced me to watch (listen to?) Penda's Fen, so that's something.

I think it's because there seemed to be such a disinterest in having a title character that was seemingly intended to be the main focus of books released right next to each other is why the umbrella titling was dropped after Cat's Cradle. I suppose this type of series is better off having sequels released periodically, like Head Games (Book 43) being a sequel to Conundrum (Book 22) and instead having arcs which allow for more self-contained books, like the Future History Cycle and the Alternate History Cycle.

Wait. Didn't this book have...Ace betrayed by the Doctor who was plotting to GET HER BOYFRIEND KILLED? I don't know if you addressed that?

These videos are great. I've not read the NA books since they first came out, so it's a nice recap. I found these videos whilst trying to jog my memory of the wilderness years. Think I made it about 25 books in... Thanks!

This book may be middle of the road, but now I really want a story about a Kenny Rogers cult.

It sounds very removed from what makes a good false utopia. I understand that a story about what happens when one is facing a change in belief could happen in a false utopia story but that isn't it's core. I even think politics can take a secondary place (though it is a bit of a waste not to use it to provoke political thought), but the idea of lost individualism and/or the idea that any power that can give you anything can take away everything.

This one of those storys that would of been televised in the writers mind.

so i'm working my way through the new adventures, they were a formative part of my Who fandom in the 90s. i just finished transit, this was only a few books / months ago...... and before watching your review I could remember absolutely NOTHING about it. that's how forgettable it is.

I think this one gets dragged too much. It's nothing special but it's a nice, short read with decent characterisation of 7 and Ace. It's not a classic like Timewyrm Exodus or Revelation but at the very least, it's better than Timewyrm Genesys since at least Nigel Robinson doesn't appear to despise the main characters or write any weird sex stuff like John Peel did.
