UPDATES: 5.7.23
1) I was wrong to recommend the velcro hooks go on the opposite side- that would cause it to catch on clothes- but i was still right to call it an issue.
2) i didn't put it in the video, but if you like the video, please subscribe. i don't make that many videos but i do aspire to one day getting enough traffic to monetize my posts- to do that i need 1000 subscribers.
ORIGINAL POST:
When I was reviewing this holster, I couldn't find any independent 3rd party reviews on the VNSH holster. However, with a money back guarantee (even return shipping), I decided it was a zero risk decision. This video is my raw unbiased review of the product I received. I'm making the video to help others that might be considering it.
SPOILER WARNING: After receiving the holster, it took less than 15 minutes for me to decide to return it. To be fair, they got pretty close... close enough I would be willing to give them a second try if they address my design concerns. Absent that, I'll remain on the hunt for a holster I am look forward to wearing.

great review. you brought up a lot of valid points in the video concerning areas needed for improvement. i'm going to head over to the link above that you posted to hear their response. as for #2 above, with their statement that the velcro has to be on the side that they originally placed it, i think the best option is to create multiple lengths (ex, maybe a small-medium and a large-extra large belt so that the velcro doesn't get put in a position that touches your skin) or have an add-in piece (like you mentioned) that can cover the velcro in the event that someone is on the larger end like yourself.

This was such a great review. Honest, reasonable, rational. If the company had guys like you during development, they'd have an even better product. Some of these issues are literally the result of a 50-50 coin flip decision. Hooks on the outside belt and loops on the inside. Folding the snap webbing tail under instead of sewing the tail further along the strap. Only two options and they picked the worse one. Hopefully they see this and can make quite reasonable changes.

Anthony, wanted you to know that new viewers are still seeing your review for the very first time. It still just as important now as it was when you made it. Thanks for your excellent work. Very fair and balanced. As soon as you pulled the trigger on your M&P while it was still inside and the holster, I yelled “No!”. If there is even a 10% chance of that happening, it is too dangerous. Thanks for having the courage to be honest and truthful. You may have saved someone’s life or a criminal charge from a ND. You, sir, are a hero! Need more Anthonys in the world. Thanks much.

Ha! I do wish them every success. I earnestly believe the world is a safer place when responsible gun owners carry every day. I wasn't trying to talk anyone out of the holster, just share my own experience and opinions. Now on the other hand, if VNSH wanted to say "thank you" and send me a free holster as a review, I'd be ecstatic and do a follow-up video highlighting the improvements but I can only wish. 🙂

Thank you SO much for making this video. You just saved me a lot of money, hassle and disappointment. I very much appreciate it. This current model has WAY too many design flaws and serious safety issues. And at $130, the build quality issues are also unacceptable, to me anyway. Like you said, that's what you'd expect from "Walmart quality". However, $130 is NOT a Walmart price point. So, they should be doing better than they are for that kind of money. Anyway, thanks again. :) Hopefully someday they'll come out with something better.

Anthony, thank you so much for this review. I literally had my credit card out. I’m a 34 waist so the Velcro situation would not be an issue for me. The trigger guard? Maybe. But it looks like you really had to dig in there with your finger hard to pull the trigger. But the issue with the strap that holds the gun in place…total deal breaker. You’re right. In a panic situation, you’d never free your own gun from the holster. I’ll wait for the improved model, or find a better option in the meantime. Great review. Really appreciated.

I got one a month ago. I, too, saw the stitching was sub-par, especially at that price point. I got use to flipping the snap, but I see your point. I e-mailed them pics of stitching and they sent me another with no questions asked. Now I have two for the price of 79$. All in all, it's not my favorite, but I would wear one if I was in shorts or sweats, and for that reason I'm keeping mine. Great review, much-needed for this holster.

Huge help. Thank you for your time. I got an ad and it was an ad i actually watched, i went to the website and just about ordered it and decided i should find a review for it. Almost all videos about this holster are by the company itself. I found yours, and man am i glad i did. My waist isnt as big, so the velcro wouldnt have been an issue, the other non issue for me would be the trigger guard, i carry a compact 1911 so you can pull the trigger all day and it isnt going off until you drop the safety and engage the grip safety, but the fact that that strap is sewn the wrong way so it creates a barrier to my thumb is a deal breaker. Again, thank you. 🤘

You have some good points, however I purchased mine two weeks ago with no stitch issue. I used all four of my glocks from compact to full size with no trigger issue and no belly issue. I used the holster at the range and didnt have any issue with quick release of guard strap. Also went jogging and the batting cage for three rounds of 18 pitchs at 65 mph with no issue with holster. With that said as a retire cop I'm ordering one for my Marine son for his birthday who did a combat tour.

Hey Anthony, I also bought the holster and found the same issues. I am also a big guy and I did get the extender piece and that made ALL the difference fitting comfortable. Practicing with it a little bit and I found reaching for the gun, using my trigger finger to pull the front strap pops the buttons apart pretty easy. I had a few strings on mine also, I used a lighter and singed each one down. But yes I agree with you on ALL POINTS, they could have done a better job. I was going to return mine also but I am willing to bet you they made you offers to keep it like they did me. I got the $20 extender piece free, and ended up with 2 discounts on my holster that ended up only costing me $20 for everything. They gave me some really good discounts due to wanting a refund on it. So, I still have it and I am learning it a lot now and to be honest, I love it now and the extender piece was the game changer for me from hate to love. P.S. I carry a full size 1911 in mine and as hard as you have to dig in to get the tigger while inside the holster, that didn't bother me.

Respect for this review and for VNSH reply. I'm a bigger guy too so the extension for the belt helped me out greatly with that issue. One of the other problems I had with the belt was the fact the extra pockets for your clips were on the gun side of the holster, clips should be carried on your support side. VNSH also fixed that by adding their duel mag pouch that can be placed anywhere on the belt so now on this one holster I carry my pistol, flashlight and a knife on my strong side and two clips on the support side. I wish other companies would listen to their customers with an open perception. This is how positive changes are made and it works out great for everyone.

I have one of these and I personally think it's one of the best on the market. In regards to waist size, its suitable for up to a 48" waist but you can buy an extension strap for a larger waist through VNSH. I have a full size Springfield .40 cal with a trigger/handle safety and haven't had any issue with being able to pull the trigger while it's in the holster. I intentionally tried to pull the trigger and because of my pistol design, it won't happen. I think it depends on the pistol design. The pistols in this video have a huge trigger space, so I can imagine it's quite easy to push the holster material in and pull the trigger. With my pistol, not an issue. The magnetic locking strap could be a better design, but the strap will release itself if you simply pull the firearm out of the holster. I should probably post a demo/review video of my own to show that it's worth getting.

Excellent work and review. You said at the beginning that you may be called "Knit picky" about some of the issues that you raise, but seeing as this is a concealed carry holster, and could end up in a life or death scenario, I applaud you for the deep dive into the many small issues that this very expensive holster/belt has. I was going to purchase two of these for myself and my wife, who are both left-handed, and they list the thing as being truly ambidextrous, however, there were no photos on the site demonstrating how it is, which led me down the rabbit hole that is KZbin, and I am glad I did. Cudos to you sir... and good luck in your search...

Thank you for the thoughtful review! I've loved the Raven holsters for about 20+ years, but I'm always keeping my eyes open for the next great holster. If VNSH makes a 2.0 version, correcting the issues, I think I'd be willing to try one.

Thank you very much for an outstanding review! You bring out two very important design flaws that need to be corrected as soon as possible. The way it stands now, if you value your jewels because of an insufficient trigger protector, and value your life, because you can’t draw your weapon that tab being in the way, keep far away from this product! I hope the company sees this video and corrects these problems. BTW, I just subscribed.

Like you, I saw no independent, "honest", reviews...so I ordered one today! Now, i just found your review, while scrolling through my feed! Great! Like you, I figured if i didn't like it, I'd return it. I hope that that's not a hassle. But they'll probably take their sweet time doing refunds! Some of the issues, I could probably fix. But, if I do any "fixes", that might void the warranty! So I'll probably end up returning mine, as well.

To their credit, customer service was very good. They did offer additional discounts to me and asked if there was anything they could do to change my mind. refund came pretty quickly. bottom line- customer service experience was positive, a big part of the reason I wish them no ill will.

Extremely grateful for your very very honest review.. I was going to buy my stepfather this holster because he's been wanting one since he's seen it.. he carries everyday, but I know how he is.. he's very meticulous. Not so much petty, but just meticulous on things like comfort and mobility.. I am no longer even thinking about purchasing this item anymore. And I was literally just moments away from purchasing one for him, and I decided let me go to KZbin, let me look at some reviews from honest people who have BOUGHT the item and USED IT vrs just the standard commercial saying "HEY THIS THING FITS PERFECT , IT'S VERY COMFORTABLE AND IT CARRIES EVERYTHING".. I think a script that every company that's ever tried to sell anything goes by!! Thank you again for your very very honest review you saved me some money! Stay safe✌️

I just want to say first this isn't a rebuttal, as your experience might be different as was mine and very much appreciate the time taken to make this video. Trying to carry concealed is a bitch for a lot of people. Everyone I know who has much more experience with firearms than I has a box of holsters they've tried, worn for a while and tossed into a box primarily because they're uncomfortable, or aren't very versatile. They just aren't meant for the average overweight fatboy like me. I recently purchased this holster and used it for the first time Friday due to the recent call for violence by some Palestinian folk. Let me just say this is my 1st time carrying a firearm, but I've been practicing with other CC holsters, none of which were comfortable enough to even think about using all day. I'm on the road all day as a service person primarily in residential homes making multiple house calls per day so I'm driving, standing, squatting, kneeling, running up and down stairs, sometimes in front of customers, all in a very liberal state if u catch my drift so I put it through a torture test on day 1. I carry two phones, on either side of my belt plus wallet, keys, some extra tools, parts etc. which already forces my pants down around my knees so trying to carry a firearm on top of that means removing some things I usually carry but even doing that doesn't guarantee concealment at all times, plus you usually have to buy a larger size pant just to button them. Since this holster is so versatile, I decided to try it up at chest height, cross body near the armpit and I can tell you it was so comfortable I hardly knew it was there and it stayed put all day, never drooped. It was very comfortable around the waist too, but not feasible for my situation as previously mentioned. I wore it over a t-shirt with a sweat shirt over that all day until I got home and could've worn it to sleep it was that comfortable, and no one knew it was there as it did not print. Now to address some of these issues mentioned: 1st: I checked the stitching on mine and found 0 loose threads. Maybe that issue has been addressed by VNSH. 2nd: I tried to dry fire my weapon while in the holster and could not. I have a Kimber R7 Mako which has a trigger safety and could not dig in with my fingers to reach it, however I know that doesn't cover every situation and agree the trigger guard should cover the entire face since this is an ambidextrous holster and handguns vary as demonstrated by Anthony M. 3rd: Although the retention strap could benefit from a slightly longer front strap above the magnet clip , allowing your thumb to get under it easier, the adjustment of the safety strap for me makes a difference in how easy it is to release it. Tighter is better as this forces the inside strap to wrap around the side of the grip handle and stay there, and helps to separate the two straps where they make contact at the magnet making a thumb release much easier. The outer strap is fully adjustable and I ended up with 1 1/4 in showing on the bottom, which I will cut and cauterize with a lighter or hot knife. I don't plan on carrying anything else in this holster, certainly not anything bigger so it's personal choice. I tried as hard as I could to pull my gun out while clipped and could not release the magnet that way. 4: As someone else mentioned, VNSH makes an extension strap for larger waist sizes, eliminating the issue Anthony M is having. 5: This wasn't mentioned but since this holster provides two mag pouches, I decided to go all in and carry two extra mags all day as well. As mentioned before, I wouldn't know they were there if I didn't put them there. Being a compact these are short double stack mags and although they fit just fine, I had to keep pushing the mags back down as they were beginning to slide out a couple of times throughout the day, I think due to the taper of the mag body. This being a new experience for me I was checking often to make sure everything was in place and maybe if they were a longer single stack this wouldn't be an issue, but my options are to carry a separate mag sheathe or push the mags all the way in past the finger extension, which will work, but try getting it out when you need it the most. Maybe a strap on those as well or a less slippery material inside would be better. I like this holster a lot and the mag pouch issue is not a deal breaker for me, as I may not carry the extra mags or may use other options. We'll see how long this holds up over time.

Great review! I am so glad that I did look for an independent review. Sir, you pointed out the most important areas of concern. comfort, (comfort creates confidence in this situation), safety, shielding that would prevent unintentional discharge and the deal breaker, deploying my piece in the quickest time possible. That could be a life/death situation. Other than that, I personally would expect the build quality to have solid stitching without rappelling ropes as "drill instructors used to call them", on the garment! Those stitch points should be finished off with QA/QC checked and trimmed. Excellent review! I will continue in my search for a holster. Thank you!
