Every discussion of disease must include many different kinds of preventative measures. Any rational society understands there are underlying conditions which cause an outbreak to become dangerous. For example: living and working conditions. Importantly, we need to understand the immune system better; we could ask "What causes the immune system to become compromised? What allows the immune system to function optimally? How can we live independently without reliance on drugs and shots? If that is possible, why would we not try? If we only have these discussions with people invested in vaccine and virus technology, including gain of function research, we don't get the whole picture. Balanced discussion about public health is needed now more than ever. Vaccines may play a part, but just like antibiotics, over-use causes them to work less well, and increases risks, both at a personal and population level.

As far as the CIA, it might be good but I seriously doubt it had access to any medical records, we might have known there was something going on. The virus was not identified until Dec 30, 2019 and WHO issued warning Dec 31. As far as Arun's statement that "he" (Fauci) could have prevented this. He is not a global dictator of medical actions taken by countries. Overly ambitious to assume Fauci could have prevented it. In fact, as of today Fauci has additional security because he has angered some on the far right because he states medical info that is worse than Trump does. Many countries have made missteps, South Korea, Hong Kong (a city state) have fared well due to their actions, Japan and Singapore (another city state) look like they might be over the hump. The rest of the world not so hot. Fauci could not have prevented it.
