A study by university researchers and environmental groups says that trees burnt by fire cannot be replaced fast enough. The researchers are worried trees will never regrow without their help. The study presents the idea that different trees might need to be grown in burnt areas because of climate change. (6:33) Then, John Russell has a report on a town in Japan that is famous for blue jeans. Kojima has made the denim pants and other clothing for a long time. What sets the costly blue jeans apart is the care and attention to detail put into their production. (12:26) Next, Bryan Lynn reports on an unusual asteroid. Scientists in Spain have discovered a small asteroid that recently moved closer to Earth’s orbit. Named 2024 PT5, the asteroid usually orbits around the sun. But Earth’s gravitational forces recently pulled the object closer to our planet, where it is expected to remain until November 25.
(19:01) Following the report, Ashley and Bryan discuss the asteroid. Ashley notes that the 2024 PT5 is currently gravitationally linked to Earth. She asks how common this kind of event is.
