As an aside on subwoofer placement, there are room effects (standing waves) that wont change the (non)directionality of the sound, but might setup distorting resonances. The good news is that because they are entirely non-directional, the resonances are symmetrical. So where do you put your subwoofer for good sound? well, put the subwoofer on your chair (preferably at head level), play some sound only through the sub, and start crawling around on the floor. where the subwoofer sounds best, thats where it goes to live permanently.

Bass reflex are great for efficiency but remember when you play a drum through them you actually get 2 thuds. One from the speaker and one from the port.

I might add that at low bass frequencies the ear can't detect 50% distortion. Our lugs are designed to hear human voices.

0:27 "Power is manifested by producing either heat, mechanical motion..." The loudspeaker paradox: A normal high quality 2-way bookshelf HiFi speaker has an ⁿ0 of about 0.5%. This means that 99.5% of the power is manifested in heat, 0.5% in acoustic power. Considering this, it would be more appropriate to call a speaker a heater. Even though it will be an inefficient heater, but still. 😃 Greetings from a professional loudspeaker designer.

I think the term "Soundstage", is used so that when you are sitting in front of your, system, it sounds like the music is coming from directly in front of you.

Will Dolby Atmos be covered in a future video? That is crazy and requires a microphone to set up the speaker-amp combo...😂

Hello, after long time.. I'm back with SUPER CURIOSITY on reverse camera wiring diagrams. Why are you not making any videos about backup reverse camera in cars? These days many comes pre-installed with rear camera. Hence, the curiosity arise for the need to understand how the camera sends signal to the radio unit, etc etc??? In fact, in general, reverse camera has 5 wires with one wire being a shielded ground, one is camera power, one is camera ground, one is video power and another is video ground. Total 5 wires. So, can you please immediately make new videos on these 5 wires??? Please 🙏🙏🙏

You seem like a very knowledgeable, old fool. You got most of this right. You are very educational. But you don't know what I know. Few of you academic types, do. As you got something fundamentally wrong with speakers. In general. And that is... the electrical engineers that created them. They've all made a stupid beginner mistake. How do I say such a thing? How do I know this? I'm so glad you asked. Let me explain. Back a long time ago. Probably 70 or 80 years ago. The electrical engineers got something right. In a very wrong way. And that is Speaker Absolute Polarity. They got that backwards. But their mathematics told them. That, they were right. Technically speaking? They were, they are. Until they connected them. When they did it, backwards. So what the hell am I talking about? Speaker polarity and not, phase. I meet oh sure. You get your left and right channel speakers in phase, together. You followed your instruction manuals. For both your amplifier and your speakers. Then you have it connected, correctly. As per the diagram. And you're left and right channel speakers are in phase, together. But unfortunately. At the same time you have both speakers in phase, together. The mistake the electrical engineers made. Has your speakers in phase together and in Negative Absolute Polarity. What? Phase and Polarity, everybody thinks is the same thing. Sorry. It is not. Because your speakers are in phase together but in Negative Absolute Polarity, together. What does this mean? What am I precisely saying? While the electrical engineers think and want to believe. The speaker cones and domes are, protruding out toward you. Unfortunately. Electrical engineers and acoustic engineers are not, Actual Audio Engineers. However, I am. Not only multi-major music award nominated. For my Audio Engineering and Mixing, expertise. But I am also a top-notch, Studio Fixer, person. Where I have fixed, monitoring issues. In, Top Recording Studios and Broadcast Network, TV & Radio Network Facilities. Because of all the electrical engineers and acoustic engineers. With their advanced college degrees. Possess brains. That only partially work correctly. And they got this backwards. This Polarity, thing. What has happened here is. Your speakers are actually moving, in the wrong initial direction. This is what they got wrong. They believe they have indicated Positive Polarity. As they used a simple test involving a 9 volt battery. You connect to your speaker. And when you see the cone move outward. They will mark that, connection, Positive. And that is correct. This proves they are right. No it does not. Because they got the entire concept, wrong. They are not Audio Engineers. And thus, don't know what they are listening to. Don't know, how it should sound. They are clueless. Because the speakers are moving in the wrong direction, initially. They are actually sucking. That's right. The speakers are not protruding out toward you. They are sucking inwards, away from you. But the electrical engineers and acoustic engineers are convinced. They are right and I am wrong. Nope. It's the other way around again. What they have actually done. In their mindless academic ways. Is to get everything in phase. From microphone input. To the audio power amplifier, output to the speaker. And yes. They have everything in phase. And the speakers are in Negative Absolute Polarity, as a result. What? How? Why? It actually, academically simple, to explain. Because they are not actual Audio Engineers. They did not take into account nor consider. What are the microphone diaphragms doing? That recorded the music you're trying to listen to. What are the microphone diaphragms doing? When a sound source, smacks into those diaphragms. Which direction are they moving in? And would you want your speakers moving like that? NO YOU DO NOT. That's backwards. LOL. What a bunch of lame brains those college grads are. With electrical engineering degrees. With acoustic engineering degrees. What a bunch of knuckleheads frauds. That cannot understand. The actual recording process itself. And what is occurring. I discovered this Pro Audio Anomaly. Back when I was only 22 in 1978. And I had just designed and built from scratch. Baltimore, Maryland's, second-largest music recording studio and commercial production facility. And when I say scratch. I mean scratch. I design all the acoustics. I design the control room. And all the wiring required, therein. I even designed and built, from scratch. A 24 input, 8 group output. With 4 effect, outputs. And the Stereo Mix Bus. Then with my custom-built audio console. That cost over $10,000 in just raw parts and pieces. Back in 1978. I included, 3 push buttons. These 3 push buttons were for, 3 stereo pairs of control room monitor speakers. Kind of like the 3 Bears. The little ones. The big ones. And the medium-sized ones. The only problem was... I only have the small, 4 inch, Auratones. And the big 15 inch, Altec Lansing 604 E. Control room monitor speakers. And those were the industry standards. When I fired up my brand-new, control room. It looks great. Everything worked great. But the sound was not great. It was not to my liking. I thought I had made some major technical and/or acoustic blunder? It did not sound the way I thought it should. Maybe due to the fact. I was nothing more than a bona fide, high school dropout with a GED. And no college whatsoever. Though? I did take a couple of weeks of, technical training seminars. How to fix some tape recorders. But that's it. And so now I feel like a failure. My control room was not sounding stellar. It looks great. But not sounding up to snuff. So? I hadn't purchased the medium-sized monitor speakers. So I opted to get a pair of JBL 4311's. And I wired those in. And when I played back through those. OH MY GOD! YES! I was pleased as punch with those. Now my control room sounds exactly. The way I had been tended it, to sound. How I wanted it, to sound. The way it had to, sound. But then I did something funny. I could turn on any one of those three pairs of speakers. And so I also turned on the Altec Lansing 604's. And whoops? What? What's this? My Altec Lansing speakers are, " out of phase " with my, JBL, speakers. But wait? Everything is wired correctly. And both pairs of speakers. Were designed and built by the same guy. James B. Lansing. And I wondered, why would he have done this? This doesn't make any sense. They are not Properly Polarized, together. Then I turned on the Auratones. They were the same as the Altec Lansing speakers. Out of polarity but in phase together. To the JBL's, also. What the FUCK? (More Backwards Speakers in following posts)

Our brains can not decipher. Sound in front of you. That is sucking away from you. And being able to tell what the hell you are hearing? Without jumping through multiple hoops. Of playing back through multiple speakers. Then hopping in your car and listening in there. To try and get your mix right. At a great expenditure of effort and time. Then they all end up thinking... there is something wrong with their acoustics. So they spend thousands of dollars more. On their acoustics. But that still doesn't do it. Then they think they have purchased the wrong amplifiers. So they changed those out. That still doesn't do it. So it must be their audio console that's not good enough? So they replace it with a much more expensive one. And that still doesn't do it. So they call the acoustic engineers back in. And they add some more gobbledygook components and electronics. And that still doesn't do it. That's what I get the call. In their desperation. Because I've been known. As one of the finest pair of ears. In the industry. And that would be correct. I am. And so when you have to correct the control room. For one of the finest American and worldwide audio console manufacturers called API. At their own studio. They were Dumbfounded. Then they saw the light. Over the years... I have explained this to multiple, electrical engineers and acoustic engineers. And the reaction was? Oh my God? You're right. I had never thought about it that way? Is the general, response and reaction. That's right. Nobody has ever thought about it, this way. Except Jimmy Lansing back around 1948. I discovered this in 1978 when I was 22. I had heard the speakers. 10 years earlier when they were introduced. At 12 years of age. And I knew I was hearing something very different. I knew at 12 years of age. I would have to own one of these pairs of speakers by JBL. They sounded correct and right to me. And they became an industry standard. I believe for just this reason. The later... other folks came up with much more expensive, luxury monitor speakers. Some costing tens of thousands of dollars. And they are all in negative absolute polarity again. Because nobody gets this right. They have college degrees. So I take a dim view. Of these on Io experts with electrical engineering degrees. They don't know what the hell they are listening to. They don't know how it's supposed to sound. But they got their mathematical equations correct. Goodie for them. It's wrong. So with any other brand of speaker other than JBL. Just reverse the connections. On both your left and right channel speakers. Then sit down with a nice drink. And your favorite recordings. And take another listen. You may be shocked? And you might get angry? Because you realized. You have been listening to everything the wrong way. Your entire life long. With your electrical engineering degree in hand. So you have to actually know. How the recording process goes. What everything is doing and how. And at the end of the line. Where the audio power amplifier output is connected to the speakers. That is the only place. Where Absolute Positive Polarity can be established. But then I've had some famous, Electrical Engineer said to me. All they have to do is invert the phase. At the input of the audio power amplifier. And they tell me they don't hear any real difference. I tell them they are correct again. You will not hear much difference that way. Whether you invert the waveform or not. Because the output absolute polarity. Remains the same. Even if you invert phase at the input. There will be no difference in output polarity. It's still Negative. Whoops. That's a no-brainer to do. With their college degrees. So this is a great video about speakers. And now you know how to correct your polarity. So you can hear it. The way it's intended to work and sound. Not the way. Stupid electrical engineers think it's supposed to work. Because it's backwards their way. Like a cult. A religious cult. And most of those religious cults are stupid, awful, dumb, wrong. I mean who needs that nonsense? I don't need to run with the pack of idiots. To ensure. I'm just as stupid as they are. Hell no! I can't be like them. Because I have to fix these studios. They can't get right. And this is the easiest, dumbest, technical audio FUCK up. I consider in Pro Audio History. They've all gotten this wrong at other speaker manufacturers. Every single last stupid one of them. Because they are electrical engineers. They are stupid electrical engineers. They do not understand the recording process, at all. Because they didn't consider what the microphones were doing. They left out that important factor. From their stupid mathematical equations. Because they cannot think. They have no power of thought. And they don't know. What they're speakers are supposed to sound like? Because test equipment. Is not alive. Does not have ears. Does not have a brain. Can make no decisions. Can't evaluate nothing. Because test equipment is inanimate. It doesn't know what is in polarity or auto polarity. It just indicates voltage levels. And it's all interpreted, wrong. By electrical engineers and acoustic engineers. So as a result. It keeps the Pro Audio Industry, rolling. With people constantly changing out all their equipment. Constantly changing their acoustics. All that costs all want of money. Because they cannot think for themselves. They can not think the process through. And what is actually occurring? They are clueless idiots. Like a cult. Good things do not normally come from cults. Bad things do. And people die. Businesses die. Studios die. The record industry has died. And everybody's an expert with a college degree. And don't know what the FUCK they are listening to. So there you go. There is all the real information you need. To be able to listen and enjoy. The way God intended it. Not backwards. I guess I have gods ears? Other people have college degrees. RemyRAD
