I’ve known about voltage dividers forever, but this is the first time I’ve actually understood them. You have a very intuitive way of explaining things.

That's definitely a different way of looking at the math. I have been practicing the actual formula, but I will try this method also. Thank you

I have a resistor divider in a game gear that's not working. 5v in is present, ground is present but at the point it should be 2.5v its 5v. I took the resistors out of the circuit and they both measure their respective 10k resistance. I am a little stumped as to what could be the fault here. I notice if i measure the top resistor on the board it acts like a short. Under the resistor there is a trace that goes from the ground up, do you think I am somehow shorted there and its allowing all 5v to pass through? I am kind of stumped.

I fixed it! Your video really helped me visualize what should be happening. Turns out that I had a short on the capacitor that is on circuit. I assume thats why I had the 5v present, but no 2.5 at the other side, it didnt have the current? Does that sound correct or am I still misunderstanding what was causing this issue? Either way removing the capacitor and cleaning the pad resolved it!

How to use VDR when one terminal is positive and the other is negative.
