@ 1:40 For the more general case (including resistors) replace the R's by Z's (like here: 6:48). @ 9:49 Instead of remember this rule, just multiply the numerator and the denominator by j.

If the imaginary part of the impedance (X) is negative, it indicates that the reactive component is capacitive. Conversely, if X is positive, it suggests that the reactive component is inductive. Either way it would be positive ohms (either as inductive or as capacitive).
