Ohhh Bethany, you're so much fun! My favorite phrase, "We're going back!" Hahahaha, should be a drinking game for people who really want to get drunk! And you say it as if we're not clapping our hands like a windup monkey with cymbals. This is what makes you so special, you are unapologetic about your appreciation and enthusiasm for this amazing music. We know your focus is on the vocals, but we can see that you acknowledge the virtuosity of the composition and delivery of the instrumentals. Any time you drop a new Nightwish vid, I drop whatever I was going to watch to check it out and get my fix of "we're going back!" I don't think you realize how truly precious it is. Thanks for what you do ... we love it!

When we are listening to Floor and Marko you can go back as many times as you want! Their voices and your enthusiasm makes it all worth it! Some days ago I was listening to the song Disdain by ReVamp from Live at Graspop 2010 with harsh vocals from Floor. I went back so many times that I probably spent an hour listening to just one song!
@chriso6719
@chriso6719 Жыл бұрын
Yep, this is one of their heavier songs. Floor's 3 octave glissando at the end that she did in tandem with Marko, is an addition to the original from the Tarja era(Once album 2004). The studio version only had Marko's 2 octave slide. The song is basically a romance that has died. It's over, time to move on. You haven't met the 6th member yet, multi instrumentalist Troy Donockley, he does some vocals too. Try, I Want My Tears Back from the Buenos Aires 2018 show.

Love you analysis and appreciation of vocal techniques and nuances. This is one of Nightwish heaviest songs, due to the nature of the story in this song. Romanticide = death of love or romance after all of the lies and betrayal. That last scream is all about a final scream of frustration. Romance is dead. Forget about it. Time to move forward. Marko goes high then falls in realization it is over. Floor keeps going higher as if to declare her freedom from this love gone bad. See me ruined by my own creations Leave me be… Dead Boy’s alive but without sense I need a near-death experience Heart once bold Now turned to stone Perfection my messenger from hell Wine turns to water Campfires freeze, loveletters burn Romance is lost Lord, let me be wrong in this pain Temporary pain, eternal shame To take part in this devil’s chess game Spit on me, let go, get rid of me And try to survive your stupidity

No this is the correct speed (i.e. same than on Spotify etc). There are also some slowed down versions of Romanticide on KZbin, probably due to botched DVD export settings.
@rome8180
@rome8180 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is the correct speed. I can tell because the pitch is spot on. If it was sped up, the highest note she hits in that glissando would be higher than the D6 she actually sings. I just used a tuner to test it, and it's exactly a D.

Awesome example why vocal coaches make the best reactors. 🥰 I've watched so (too?) many reactions, especially to symphonic metal and kpop. Often reactors want to please the audience and exaggerate their enthusiasm, and say omg a hundred times. Vocal coaches are so focused on the song, they have no time for putting up an act or overact. And if the technique is good, you can see the intense joy. I especially like surprised reactions to parts I don't get what's difficult or original. It's such a contrast of a cerebral analysis and passionate fangirling. Love it! 😍

I am definitely a huge Floor fan from when I first heard her 3 years ago, and what all she can do vocally still amazes me to this day. You think after hearing her sing 40 or 50 songs you got all the things she can do, but you would be wrong. She is constantly trying to hone and perfect her vocals not just for opera or metal, but everything imaginable.

I truly enjoy your commentary and obvious love of music and great vocals. Watching you discover Nightwish brings back memories of my own similar experience. I recall two primary thoughts…who the hell is she (meaning Floor of course) and how have I missed this band for over a decade? I’m now in the Nightwish Army and I’m a big Floor supporter. When you’re ready for another dose of intense Nightwish, try “7 Days to the Wolves” from the Wembley show. Wear something black and buckle your seatbelt. This is some serious storm the castle stuff. Floor really brings it. Incidentally, she told the crowd this is one of her favorite songs to perform at the concert I attended. It’s not a marathon arrangement like some of Toumas’ symphonic masterpieces, but I think it’s a great song. Keep up the good (and fun) work, Bethany!

I love the clever way Marko lowers his voice during the vocal slide, so it really highlighted Floors huge high note as well. Super talented vocalists having fun with their craft. Btw their heaviest song is called Master, Passion, Greed and is sung by Marko. No live version as it was a song written in anger at Tarjas husband and just needed to be said.

I'd suggest _Yours_ _is_ _an_ _Empty_ _Hope_ from Wembley and _Devil_ _and_ _the_ _Deep_ _Dark_ _Ocean_ from Buenos Aires, each of which addresses a different comment you made this time!

The only bad part is that this song is always reviewed ONLY with the music. At the concert, Marco leads this with a spoken part that basically explains the song is a result of it having been the anniversary of a boyfriend/girlfriend and she's been cooking for three hours and he's just now decided to go get sausages. "That's Romanticide..." start of song.
