@@RetroFilmRush Yes this so refreshing to hear and see the original, tells the true history of how good they were and how the girls went as nuts for them as the Beatles, whom they once toured with as an opening act in August 1964. they got a recording contract and left the tour...smart move for them...they got their own screams...even the musicians in this are great, listen to that percussion!

I love this!! I'm 67, was a school music teacher, and remember this performance...Congrats...you found the real soundtrack to this film clip, so many others think it's live but they are listening to the studio recording placed OVER the original soundtrack [which is fine], but this gives you the live reaction and a more realistic experience of the impact these guys had on their audiences as a historic record of their popularity and talent. Before international fame, in August 1964, they toured with the Beatles as an opening act on their big USA tour. They left the tour to sign a recording contract and the rest is history. Here, the girls are screaming as much for them as the Beatles would get screams. when I sing at home, my wife screams at me too...well, not the same exactly...hahahaha

I think the studio version is always the best way to hear a song for the first time. It eliminates the background noise, and lets you know how the song should sound. Later on you can hear a live version, and find out if the artist really had the kind of skill to perform without studio help. The Righteous Brothers did have that skill, but a really smooth, suspenseful song intro was muted by screeching girls.

Yes she should listen to both, but the live performance gives one historical retrospect, the impact on their audience.

Nina, "Welcome to the 60's!" Back in the day we never saw the performers, we just heard them on the radio. Most of us would swear they were black singers. Certainly no white performers could put that much soul into their music!!! There was so much great music to listen to in the early 60's. The Righteous Bros and the fabulous Johnny Mathis led the parade. Then came The Beatles and a singer who had been performing on Broadway came out with a song called 'People'. Her name was Barbra Streisand. And so many more. Nina, have you heard Johnny Mathis sing his original recording of 'Misty'? Usually it is nice to see live performances but in this case the entire performance including an orchestra is one of the finest pieces of music I have ever heard in my life. There is one particular moment when a beautiful sound is coming from the orchestra and the listener becomes startled when it is not an instrument but Johnny's voice! Without question you will have a field day listening to his versatility and the magic of his greatest song, 'Misty'.

I like your choice of videos. The video most often used for reactions is this one with the recording overdubbed with the studio version. This tends to mislead people to think that they were lip syncing. This live performance is virtually as good as the studio recording and makes me wonder why one would bother to overdub the audio.

There is no better song from them. Each song is equally good, but just a different flavor. That one makes them so special, the fact that you’ve got two completely different voices on opposite ends of the spectrum, but they blend so well together anyway. The high voice is magical, and takes you to heaven, but the little voice is so damn sexy, and makes me wanna scream and lose my mind!
@Sebastian-rn7tl
@Sebastian-rn7tl Жыл бұрын
@@Rosannasfriend I completely agree. Also, the way both songs have been immortalised in cinema with both Top Gun and Ghost, is special in my mind, and further shows the magic of each song. I could only dream of producing a song, this good! :)

Not my favourite version with the screaming distracting from their excellent voices. The black and white version with the date of Dec. 1964 on the screen at the beginning is the version most often reacted to and is better although I did enjoy some of the differences in this version. So I decided to stick around so that I could appreciate your musicality, sweet smile, cute accent and of course your beauty.
