OK, here's an analogy. In San Francisco we have an annual fundraiser called the Decorator Showhouse. Somebody with a mansion offers it up and a horde of designers comes in, each gets his/her own room, and they show what they can do. Most of them think more is more and they cram as much into their rooms as they can. It's the rare designer who has self-restraint, and who designs a room I'd actually want to live in. To me, Jershika was that Decorator Showhouse. The performance wasn't about emotionally connecting with the song, it was about "let me show you what I can do with my voice." There were so many runs, she turned four syllable words into 20 syllable words ... the melody all but disappeared, and I lost any connection to the emotion behind the song. Paris's performance was beautiful. He had runs, but he stayed true to the emotion of the song and made me FEEL something. No contest on this one!

Well said! 👏🏽 Pick your spots! Vocal gymnastics isn’t always necessary even if you have all of that in your wheelhouse vocally.

what? It was a Vocal Gymnastics! It was BEAUTIFUl...I too have listened to it so many times if it were a record it would be warped. I hope she makes it to record her own album....She needs to release this song!

You completely missed her artistry and flow of emotion. Too often we have so little appreciation for artist freely expressing themselves and the fullness of their capacity skillfully. Many vocalist raised in predominantly African American congregations use their voices like instruments. Think of Kenny G, Miles Davis or Shirley Horn (playing piano), and then appreciate that Jershika is using her voice like the artist mentioned would play a solo sax, trumpet or piano. The richness of sentiment and emoting is all there and what makes it beautiful is it’s all vocals and most popular artist can’t replicate it or imitate it. It’s so unique and distinct yet under appreciated.

Both singers are very talented! I have listened to Jershika singing inseparable over and over. A very soulful singer, sings from her heart. As she stated in an interview, the song has a lot of meaning to her personally! I hope she and Paris continue on after the voice...their talent should be shared with the world. I agree, they are exceptional singers who show that they are loving what they do!!

I expected Jershika to do amazingly as usual, as thought it would be an obvs win, but Paris really stepped up and saaang like he’s never sung before on this show! He really surprised me this round since I hadn’t seen this level of skill in his previous performances! Jershika still my fave fave this season tho

They possess supreme, intense and ultimate vocal power. They were born with a gift that has put them in a class by itself. One of them will win the Voice and God’s amazing Grace will forever guide Jershika and Paris on this most incredible incredible journey. I would love to walk with them.

My hubby and I have been enjoying watching the Voice tv program since the second episode aired. We agree this season’s singers are exceptional. Could the challenges of 2020 plus the opportunity of practice time helped improve the quality of vocal skills?
@JohanBesterYourVocalCoach3 жыл бұрын
Quite possibly.... what most performers did not get, is a lot of stage time, of course. I imagine that some did spend the time improving vocal technique, but to deal with the energy of a live audience is so critical to the quality of singers' performance... These guys all share a similar challenge in that respect. Thanks so much for watching 🤗

THE REASON THOSE PEOPLE SOUND SO AMAZING IS BECAUSE IT'S "DEEP MELANIN SOUL" IT COMES FROM BEING BORN WITH "TRUE SOUL" FROM GENERATIONS OF "torture". THOSE PEOPLE ARE CARRYING ANCESTRAL PAIN, THE LEVEL OF PAIN FROM AN "EVIL" DONE TO NO OTHER RACE IN HISTORY AT THE LEVEL IN WHICH IT WAS TO THEM, AND LET'S KEEP IT REAL THAT CONTINUES TOO!!!!

Great reaction! Agree with you totally... Most especially about some of these singers singing better than the superstars. And Blake seems to have a keen ear for those. In fact, a behind the scenes look of Wendy's "ain't no way" (Ed Sheeran had the same opinion and said it) Also... someone mentioned Paris singing "I wish it would rain"...I agree...off the charts!!! Professional grammy level singing. You could see it in John Legend's I-can't-believe-I-let-Paris-go face.
