The first singer (Kang Hyung-Ho) was a Research Chemist who sang part time in a... ROCK band. He had NO vocal training prior to the show which created Forestella. (Try his solo "Phantom of the Opera". The bass is Ko WooRim (who is a Classically trained Basso Profundo, is the baby of the group). The Baritone is Bae Doo-Hoon who is trained in Theatre. Last is Cho Mingyu (who is a Classically trained Tenor). Cho Mingyu is the leader of the group. Try "Bad Romance", "Shape of You" or "Bohemian Rhapsody". Work up to fans favourite.. "Je suis malade". 😭 You'll need a hankie handy. They take it in turns to have either full-on lead, or a bit more focus in all their performances.

Thank you for your professional analysis! I love your British accent. Either UK or Scotland. Love it! Here is my expression of their voice range if I compare to colonial style of house range. From the left from us Ko Woo Rim: Bass as foundation of house &deep basement to support strong house built. Kang Hyong Ho: Angelic voice, tenor and falsetto as 1st& 2nd floor shooting up to attic through out of the roof like a roller coaster.(can do male and female parts, check Phantom of the opera) Jo Min Gyu: Tenor. 1st& 2nd floor(he can also do falsetto beautiful way) Bae Doo Hoon: Tenor. 1st& 2nd floor(he was musical actor so he brings out so much of emotion) I love them all together. Because of their different range of vocal ability, it bring out the best! They all work together from foundation of the house, basement, 1st floor, 2nd floor and attic to roof to complete the house project! Everyday they bring the joy!

Thank you for your renewed react on FORESTELLA. This is a cover version of the 80's mega hit by former Spanish group Mecano. As always, ingeniously reinterpreted by FORESTELLA and this time appropriately classically oriented. Ko WooRim (basso profundo) and Cho Mingyu (tenor leggiero) are classically trained opera singers, Kang HyungHo (rock singer with countertenor range and self-taught) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor/singer). Set to an old, cruel Spanish legend, in which a woman promises her first son to the moon as a price for her love for a man. The slightly mysterious sound you mentioned is therfore very appropriate. The Korean translation resulted in a different content as the lyrics could not be easily translated and inserted into the melody. However, the essence of the original has been retained.

"Shape of You" a stunning fusion of diverse styles, with extremely rousing vibes or "Spread Silk on my Heart" , with intoxicating oriental vibes. a bit rockier: "Sweet Dreams" (Euryrthmics) or heavier "Lazenca Save US" (epic korean rock). I agree with those saying you must react to Phantom Of The Opera from Kang Hyung Ho (PITTA) you'll find much to talk about. It was his audition piece for the competition that led to Forestella. Considering his background as a Chemical Engineer it's gobsmacking. Everything from Forestella is flipping marvelous. In addition to the suggestions you've already had Champions is a fav of mine, they sound like a choir of 40 (It's a mash up of the Champions league anthem and a Korean TV theme for the World Cup 2002). Nella Fantasia is beautifully done also. Thanks for your insights - more please.

Thank you Sam. I suspect that you may have missed some of the fantastic "releases" in this song - due to the necessity of stopping and commenting. That said, Forestella have quite a repertoire now ... quite a few Queen covers, Bad Romance (Lady Gaga cover) and a fantastic version of Champions (not "We are the Champions" - which I categorise as a Queen cover) and the theme song from the Godfather Parla Pia something ...

These guys are terrific. They won the second season of a South Korean show called Phantom Singer, which put quartets together. Starting out, Kang Hyung ho is a natural countertenor, without voice training that I know of. He is a chemical engineer (I think he is not doing that now). The next one to sing, Ko Woorim, is a classically trained bass--what a voice! The third one to solo is Cho Mingyu, a classically trained leggiero tenor. Apparently his voice was not going to get him lead parts in operas, so I guess he left the opera world. Lucky us! The fourth man, on our far right, finally sang solo at the end. This is Bae Doohoon, a baritenor, who trained in musical theater. Very strong voice. I recommend some of their other songs. The original song is in Spanish by the group Mecano. The lyrics are about a gypsy praying to the moon to obtain love. The moon agrees but with the condition that she must give up her first child. The child that is born has pale skin and gray eyes. When the husband sees the child, he believes she has been unfaithful and kills her. He then takes the baby and abandons him on the mountain. According to the legend, when the moon is full, it means the child is safe and well. However, if the child cries, the moon will wane to create a crib for him.

With the so-called "shoe on the other foot", perhaps you would consider previewing my favorite vocalist. He's an American tenor who is a Christian artist. I speak of David Phelps, who is introduced sometimes by Bill and Gloria Gaither; Bill Gaither of the Gaither Vocal Band. David does a simply spectacular version of "O Holy Night", Live, along with the aforementioned Bill and Gloria Gaither. Perhaps you would give this a listen? David is attired in a greenish sweater in this rendition of this carol. And there is also a video of David's vocal range that many other voice coaches analyze. The song's name is 'son of the moon' in Spanish, that is is written. So pronounced ['iho], the not pronounced h kinda is still there as a as a breath, inward sigh, something.. You just hear when the h is missing in Castilian Spanish pronounciation. Lyrics are absolutely heartbreaking. "The lyrics depict a tragic Romani legend of a Roma woman who awakes at sunrise, begging to the moon to marry a Roma man (calé) the same day. In exchange the moon asks for the woman's first-born as payment. After the child is born, the woman and man are dismayed to see that his skin is the whitest white and his eyes are grey, even though they both have dark skin and dark eyes. The lyrics explain that the child is an albino, due to being a son of the moon. But the man presumes that the father is a payo (a non-Roma person) and furiously stabs his wife to death. He takes the child and abandons him on a mountain, leaving the child to die of exposure. Later the baby is said to live happily ever after with the Moon as his mother. When the child cries, the Moon wanes to cradle and comfort him. The chorus says that the moon wants to be a mother, yet cannot find a lover who will make her his wife, and questions her as to what she would do with a human child. The French translation of the song asks a more precise question (Tell me, silvery moon, You who has no arms, How will you rock the child?), which is answered in the last stanza (And whenever the child cries, She [The Moon] crescents, Turning herself into a light-cradle). You appreciated this heavy tenor's version of Walking in the Air. This is a mysterious and sad song. It is about a woman that wants a child but can't have one. So, she prays to the moon to give her a child. She does have a child, but it is an albino. Her husband believes she has been unfaithful to him and kills his wife. He then takes the child to the top of a mountain and leaves it there for the moon to take care of the baby. This is it (more or less....my Spanish is pretty bad).

Somehow it doesn't sound the song it is supposed to be. It is a Spanish song, and pronunciation is key in anything Spanish. So, thumbs down as far as I'm concerned. As songs go, particularly when it is from the 80s, I prefer the original artist, in this case Mecano. Maybe react to that one?

They've performed multiple songs in their original languages- this was one of the few that were translated into Korean. For Spanish songs, their cover of "Maldita sea mi suerte" (Marc Anthony) and one of the member's (Cho Mingyu) performances of "Balada de la trompeta" and "Balada para un loco" are extremely good!
