When TWICE, BLACKPINK, and BTS were still popular from 2015 to 2020 I was really happy at that time, that was my youth. I was always paying attention to them during my school days back then! ! ! I'm really happy that they are now a world-class group too! And the second-generation idols from the beginning also have very classic hit songs. DOPE made them blow up, then the "Most beautiful moment in life" series made them huge internationally aswell, then blood sweat and tears just continued it as kpop became bigger and bigger in general. As someone who found them during war of hormone I distinctly remember Blood sweat and tears as being after their come up.

I do always think it's a bit important to remember that these videos are typically going more off of what the current view count was when the person was making that compilation video. So the view counts are going to be a less accurate reflection of especially any older videos since people have gone back and rewatched them years later. (Not saying any of the groups were less good just that it's not necessarily accurate to the popularity a song/group had that year)

And vice versa! KZbin wasn't really the main medium for Kpop back then so many older kpop songs were either uploaded way after release, or were deleted and reuploaded in HD years after once companies realized KZbin was popping off. So 1st gen and some 2nd gen videos' views have absolutely nothing to do with the time they were actually released. Either way, cumulative view charts are extremely inaccurate for reviewing kpop trends by the year. But this aspect isn't really relevant in this particular compilation since this mostly really applies to kpop up until around late 2000s, just thought I'd share regardless.

It’s more of an industry standard expiry date for girl groups bc as we “know”, few people actually like women as artists, just “girl groups”. None of 2NE1 have started a family and would’ve rather stayed together while doing solos and writing their own music but YGE and its shareholders decided to move on. Just like they are with all YG Family prior to BP. Don’t really expect Winner or AKMU to stick around while YGE follows the trends of K-pop instead of pushing them like they used to.

I’ve been Kpop fans since gen2 and I don’t remember BTS has that many views prior to Dope, their previous ones are not that popular to even make top 5, mainly because they were from small company, they did have to promote by themselves without company marketing support and you can see almost the other songs were from Big3. My guess is that after they blew up to worldwide scale, many fans went back to watch the old ones.

Stay with me is such a good OST. EXO has done a lot of OST, Chen himself has also done a collab with Punch in a song 'Everytime" and EXO's sub unit EXO-CBX have a good one 'For you"' also check out 'Paper cuts" not an OST but a good song. They are def worth checking out. Some other personal fave OST in general are 'No way' and 'Once again'.

If you have not heard BigBang singing live you are missing out . The music variety and the skill on stage is a pleasure . All is 100% , group , subunits or solo work . And GDragon is one of the biggest influences on the industry . The first to write and produce music , the inventor of lightsticks and the one who brought the big fashion houses to kpop. BigBang were the ones who brought freedom of creation , had the first rapline , proved solo careers are possible without disband . They are the blueprint of groups today . Highly recommend you watch live performances. They can do it all . Taeyang is back , Daesung released new music and GDragon should be back by the end of this year .

Entertainment firms, like YG, had that on lockdown in the 1st Gen. They were literally talent factories. Everything was manufactured and controlled. Very little was organic about the process in that respect. So I think what OP meant was that Big Bang was so popular YG couldn't ignore what they were on the threshold of. Maybe groups has input on their songs before BB. But outright writing and producing entire albums, let alone tracks? I doubt it was widespread, or even common, before BB. GDragon was something of prodigy though from what I remember.

These were the Girl Groups of the Second Generation of KPOP, 2NE1 stop making musing in 2016 while Sistar was a 4 member group, while Sistar19 were the lead vocal and lead rapper duo. But they along with many other KPOP groups fall victim to the 7 year curse. KPOP groups can only be signed to a 7 year contract, so after the contract is over, many groups can not get enough traction to garnish a new contract. thus many elite change direction and go Solo, while others turn to comedy/talk host/entertainer. To bad not many soloist do collaborations with other soloist. Taeyang and Jimin/ Taeyang and Lisa are just two recently released 2023 After some time, some groups try to make a comeback, like Kara and Girls Generation, after disbanded, try to make a comeback, release one album 5 to 6 years later, The fandoms, while great in their heyday, move on to newer groups, these albums sparked excitement, but nothing worth lasting, and both groups faded again. The Girls Group of the Third Generation, Red Velvet, fell into a trap so to speak. They are from SM company. And when Gen 4 GG Aespa debute, they were doing ok. The concept was AI based, then the second phase kicked in, they tried to do less AI, but the fandom was confused with this groups direction. So SM tried something different but the same? copy the strategy of Super M boy group and I talked about it above, Collaboration. (SUPERGROUP) GOT the Beat (Girls On Top) are 7 girls from 4 different Girl Groups from SM. Gen1 Boa Soloist/ Gen2 Teayeon and Hyoyeon of Girls Generation / Gen3 Wendy and Seulgi of Red Velvet / Gen4 Winter and Karina of Aespa. They put out one song, 2022 and it took off, so they did a mini album 2023 and well, it did not get the same love. The last thing I want to say, is views on KZbin do not mean South Korea fans like the group. Although like you witnessed, BTS and BlackPink ruled these charts, when it came to music awards, it was all Twice and Red Velvet during the 3rd Gen Girl Group battles. all groups had great music, and awards are subjective, most views could mean your song is great, while it could also mean your fan base is huge. but with a huge fan base, and Billions of views, and you still do not take home an award. it makes me wonder, who are the ones who vote and do they line up with the views/listeners.

Just wanted to clarify something. The maximum 7 year contract was introduced as a protection for the idols against the slave contracts K-pop used to have. And this happened after a big lawsuit between 3 members of TVXQ and SM Entertainment. A lot of groups choose to not sign again with the same company or move to other activities because they have this choice, not because they are forced to. There are still a bunch of groups that still continue to promote together and re-sign after the 7 year. And those are the groups where the members are really close. Besides nowadays it is easier for idols to reunite under different companies and promote together if they want to do that

the problem is that we don't see ballads getting billion views because every time a group, even a popular one, does a ballad, it doesn't get the same recognition. blackpink for example has a music video for "stay", a song that's a ballad, but it doesn't reach 400million, when for them is easy to reach a billion views nowadays.

The thing is, He's always asking for strong vocal song or singer in kpop, But He always end up reacting to the Generic side of Kpop(only the viral or famous groups like bts). And when we're commenting strong vocal groups like Mamamoo, Gfriend, Purple Kiss, Seventeen, Got7, and etc. Like my point is he's asking for vocally inclined groups. I am a bit confused by the video and the numbers. For example Bang bang bang was the most viewed music video in 2015 a 100% sure about that, also these view numbers are def not the view numbers videos had back in the day but are more of a cumulative since then. I am sad to watch this video, to be honest, because most of the videos here don't actually reflect which songs were the most popular in that year. And I say this following K-pop since 2013. The video compilation reflects the most viewed videos when the video was made (which I suppose was at least a few weeks ago). It would be more accurate to check the lists/rankings posted at the end of those years although it requires more work. You will find many more K-pop iconic gems that started to get buried because of the streaming era but are still considered K-pop anthems. Ps: there are already some AI groups. Most popular are Mave (fully AI) and Plave (they have real humans behind the scenes, it is similar to V-tubers)
