@@jaydeleon695 Yes, I'm sure he's received some training from voice coaches and veterans in the field, but still not the super formal sort of training that quite a number of coaches assumed he had when they first watched him. If and when he does, he'd truly be on the level of Andrea Bocelli and others like him...maybe even more. MIND. BLOWN!!!

he did have training- self training. He couldn't afford Vocal coaches, not when you're earning 50 pesos a day($1) tending chickens or selling eggs.

Yes, he's proof positive of what a person can do with grit, passion, commitment and dedication against all odds! The fact that he did pretty much all on his own just amps the recognition and admiration he deserves. There are people who, even when they have all the training/education money can buy, can't even achieve half of what he's attained.

Training from a professional means decades of learned knowledge being passed on, doing technical things correctly. Marcelito DID NOT have any training. Yet despite that, he still excelled. He is special.

Tagalog - his native language - is a tonal language - I believe that gives an advantage with other languages - to mimic other singers with not always completely understanding the translation - like the Italian in the prayer - it is a skill that comes naturally with tonal language that English (non tonal) speakers have more difficulty performing the same way.
