He lost his only daughter on her age of 6, which was a tremendous shock and pain for him, and he semi-retired for many years. This song was written for his daughter, you saw the whole grassland, the vast blue sky, the hordes of sheep, he and his family, it was the HEAVEN. While the pain brought him back from memories, that is when you hear his grawling voice pierce your soul, the emotions flood into your heart. The last Mongolian lyrics means let nature take its course, with his sadness and helpness. I think that is why many people cannot help crying when hearing this song. Tengri is a true master.

Teng Ger Er is his name, which should be three syllables as "təŋ“ ”gə“ ”ər“ when you say it. He is a singer from Inner Mongolia in China and he is a mongolian. HEAVEN is a song he wrote in 1997 when he was 37 years old, and HEAVEN refers to the grassland of his hometown in Inner Mongolia. But the show in this video happened in 2018, that was 8 years after his 6-year old daughter died of some kind of congenital disease. So i think his feelings in this singing must be different from the earlier's, which might mix the love for his hometown and his little daughter, and that's why many female listeners are deeper moved by this version than male listeners.

Amazing performance from a master of his craft. I have read somewhere that this song is his and is in memory of his daughter who passed away. Unique and beautiful as art should be. Hua Chenyu is left with his jaw open as he has sang it in a competition a few years back and wanted to see how the creator will perform it.

Ken, 🙏🏼 I am so so pleased you have reacted to this song - truly unlike anything I have ever heard before and the first time I have ever heard what is called ‘Mongolian throat singing’. This is a very important song in Mongolia and tells of the decimation of their land so is emotional for those from there as you can see by some members of the audience. Kazakhstan & Mongolia share a steppe heritage and it may not surprise you that Dimash & Tengri perform a duet together called ‘Swan Goose’ - they both have huge respect for each other. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

Nonsense. You should be ashamed of yourself for making up lies. The song was written against the backdrop of the death of his only daughter at the age of 6. He took her back to Inner Mongolia and buried her in her hometown. He misses his daughter for a long time, and this song is written for his daughter in heaven.

Never ever encounter such superb powerful vocal control over a true sad story of his demised beloved girl. Superb Tandian control Howling and crying his heart out with full of anguish with similar "God why not take me" Just wondering how emotional he was when he penned this song for his beloved daughter Remember Mongolians are taught never to cry

My father in law's favorite song. Fun song to sing, not easy to get right. Great song and singer. It's his original song and very well known in China. He's from Inner Mongolia in China. The Mongolian throat singing at the beginning is not necessarily with the pharynx. It depends on the style. Khoomei for example is done using more of the pharynx but Sygyt isn't (example).

I read that in addition to being a song to his deceased daughter, it references the beautiful Mongolia he grew up in and his grief and anger over the environmental destruction the country has experienced as he's gotten older, and hope that it can recover. One of his life goals is to repopulate the land with new trees. Also, as a side note, when his daughter passed, he and his wife both shaved their heads and vowed to never grow hair again.

Tenger or Tengri, is a Chinese singer, songwriter and composer of Mongol ethnicity. He is singing about missing Mongolia. This is the meaning of the song he is singing: I see a blue sky, Over a green lake, Vast is the grassland, This is my homeland. Horses running wild there, Sheep as white as snow, My girl, wait for me, Where my heart’s at home. I love you, my homeland, My homeland, my heaven. I miss you, my homeland, My homeland, my heaven. I see a blue sky, Over a green lake, Vast is the grassland, This is my homeland. I love you, my homeland, My homeland, my heaven. I miss you, my homeland, My homeland, my heaven.

The translation is a bit off, with added imagery and complexity but it conveys the spirit of the song well. Part of the beauty of the lyrics lies in the simplicity and implications of the juxtaposed words which can not be represented properly in the English language.

I'm wondering if you were forced to cut out parts of the video for Y.Tube in order to put it up, or if the original video had already been chopped up, and we shouldn't recommend that particular video (Tengger /w Eng. subs) anymore. At the beginning, one Mongolian was using a Mongolian throat singing technique, and the other was using a Mongolian polyphonic overtone singing technique. There is a great demonstration of the latter on Y.Tube - " Anna-Maria Hefele : polyphonic overtone singing" where 2 notes can be sung simultaneously. The competitor in the green top they kept showing is Hua Chenyu, who's song "Nunchucks" is worth checking out. They also showed Jessie J, who won the competition that year, and KZ Tandingan - who won episode 5 with her unique cover of Adele's "Hello".

This is the first time I watch your channel. Nice. May I introduce to you to a Chinese guy from China called Zhou Shen? He also entered the Singer 2020 show this year in China. He has studied outside of China when he was younger. He can speak at least 6 languages and his vocal range is very wide and the breath control of his vocal and his knowledge of music is very good. His goal is to combines classical and pop music together to introduce to those who didn't know what classical music is. A lot of people are talking about and react to his video around the world nowadays. He has so many performances but the first one I like to introduce to you is from Singer 2020 and the song called 'Baby, goodbye' and this song originally is a folk song from Russia and got translate to Chinese in the '50s and got famous in China. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZu8dmmae79kmdE. At the beginning of the song, he sang in Russian because it was the original language and then he sang in Chinese. I also like to introduce one more song for you from Zhou Shen. The song called 'Memory' from the musical 'Cats' and it was from a show called 'Super Vocal' in China. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ7GYpSGbpWtfcU.
