She really got you this time, didnt she 😊 Angelina has no limits, and you are right, this is exactly the voice every one in the music industry would like to work with. Republic Records was the lucky one to get her signature. We fans are so excited for her, we know she has all it takes to be one of the greatest of our time. Thank you for this reaction 👍

@@Ali-vc5yd Absolutely agree. What has always impressed me since her first appearances in NGT, is the way she takes her time, never rush anything, and how she is a master of back phrasing. Her "What a difference a day makes", at 8 years old, is a perfect example on both. It is just insane how she does that.

I am glad you are reacting to Angelina again. She certainly is worthy of your attention, and Frank you do it so well as you react to her you do it so well. I love the way you analyze her technique and see you appreciating her singing and ability to bring out the emotions in the songs she sings. I watched all your reactions to Angelina. In fact your very first reaction to her singing "I put a spell on you " at 9 years old is one my reactions of any i have seen anyone do. It's a favorite and i must have watched it 30 times. You always put a smile on my face and raise my spirits. You recently ask if Angelina has any new videos since signing with Republic records. She has released a new song she wrote the song and lyrics called Million Miles which released dedicated to her grandfather she lost a few years back but also said it was for anyone who lost someone. She released an official lyric video first November 9 this year at 14. Ii amazing and well done with beautiful artwork animation in the video. There have been many people reacting to it but I have been hoping to see you reacting. And today I see Republic Records released an (Official Live in Studio) where we get to see Angelina singing with a cello and piano accompanying her . Please react to these. I get the links for you.

I always look forward to people that know singing reacting to "Stay". This is one of my favorites. You noticed that mic pretty quickly.... any thumbnail where you see her singing into that mic is a winner. That mic is able to capture all the little intricate details and character in her voice. You mentioned many of the things that make her so special. The harmonics in her voice, the hand gestures that really show that she is feeling what she is singing. Angelina is a great artist to follow and study because we have so much video of her singing at every age along her journey. From 6 to 14 she has already given us so much material. She has now signed with Republic, and her professional career is just getting started. I imagine she is going to keep giving us incredible new music for many, many years to come!

You are the first of many many many reactants to say something about the microphone. Yes, it is the very best as is all the equipment that Angelina uses. The best should have the best equipment! Her family has always supported her at the highest levels since she won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8. She has her own band, two extraordinary guitarists. She has arranged her own music since she was 8. English is her third language by the way. She speaks 4! She is the product of many lucky occurrences during her short life ( the right parents, meeting the right friends, etc.) and the fact that she is a gift from God to us. I believe she became the best female vocalist to ever live at age 10! Her family has protected her from the business and wanted her to finish school before signing any contracts. Money is not a reason for Angelina to have to sign. It is rumored that her agent, her uncle, has announced that she has signed with Republic Records. Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande among others. This guitarist is Ivan Mendez.

I think there are clear transitions in her development. First between 6 and 7/8 it's really a step change in capabilities. Then between 9 and 10 years where she really left any small resemblence of a child voice behind and also became much more expressive. The next is at 13 where she begann to do powerful belting songs like Show must go on, It's a man's world and Somethings's got a hold on me. I'm curious how she will sound in her upcoming album. Will she continue that warm style from AGT or revert to Jazz?

@Bustefaen
@Bustefaen 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, but another way of seeing the same phenomenon is that up until she’s around 10 years old, Angelina Jordan is trying on other singers for size, like Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and numerous others. From there, she’s grown into her own skin, taking all the skills of the others with her, but using them creatively in her own way. The brilliant BW version of “I put a spell on you” at nine is either the pivoting point or a foreshadowing of this, taking stylistic input from the Hawkins original and making it so much better.
@yves2932
@yves2932 4 жыл бұрын
@@Bustefaen That's certainly an interesting perspective. Are you saying her earlyier performances are a 100% copy stylewise? I don't think that's the case. I agree she integrated a growing set of styles into her tool box as she's trying out more and more styles, though. And the style mix mix she's using is growing only more complex over time - which is visible. The highlight is certainly AGT so far.
@Bustefaen
@Bustefaen 4 жыл бұрын
Yves Harms Certainly not 100%. But as almost every other musician, she started by copying her idols. She did that incredibly well, as is proved for instance by her Holiday songs in Norway’s got talent. However, very soon she did what only the best artists do: She found her own voice and style. Sure, she would still sometimes experiment and do songs “in the style of” such as with Etta James’ “I’d rather go blind” and several Winehouse tunes. But mostly she would “angelize” them into something of her own. A few examples out of many: “Wicked game”, “Natural woman”, “Born to die”, “A million years ago”, “Stay” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”. She is always respectful of the song and its lyrical content, but at the same time free in her interpretation. In the span of only a few years and even before becoming a teenager, she goes through the transition from a remarkable singer to a true artist and musician. But between the prodigy doing “Gloomy Sunday” 7 and the genius remaking “Bohemian Rhapsody”, there must be countless hours of hard work and training - which fortunately, from interviews and rehersal videos, she also seems to enjoy.

Awesome reaction, I believe she is 12 here, and her voice has darkened and matured since - say "I put a spell on you" at age 9. If you have a look at one her Lana Del Ray songs also at age 12, e.g. "Born to Die" the more mature voice is even more evident. New sub :)

We haven't heard any new covers from Angelina this year. Maybe it's something to do with her contract with AGT. Maybe it's due to Covid. More likely it's to do with her recently signing with Republic Records and working on new material. She has been posing pictures to Instagram and Facebook.
@sarlina1
@sarlina1 4 жыл бұрын
" Maybe it's something to do with her contract with AGT. " Well, we can dismiss that thought. The contract signed before she entered AGT was a contract not binding Angelina to anything or anyone. I believe the reason for the "resting" of her appearances on youtube, is partly because of covid, and that they have been working hard on Angelinas new album all year.
@yves2932

@@sarlina1 Yep, her uncle stated he negotiated a special deal contract void of any obligations with AGT for her. She sheltered at least four months in self isolation due to covid.

I like to think of a girl with 100 voices she can change her voice and match the music I like to watch her dance around the music because she relates to it very important in a jazz singer and she’s learned Her craft well but she’s has everything she needs plus a few other things that most people don’t have or singer that is emotion in her voice and her body always move in with the music that’s what makes her special she connects to the music and connect to you and I I like to think there was a conduit and Go then get her out to ours wow what a talent

I wouldn't say there's "no" change or transition from when she was younger. I know what you're trying to say, and I agree that her singing voice has sounded much more mature than her chronological age for many years now, but she has, in fact, undergone a few major "transitions" over the years. The first happened around the time she auditioned for _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter] at age 7-almost-8. Before then, she was often "pitchy" - especially when she got louder - and she didn't have particularly good breath control. (I'm speaking in an "absolute" sense - I have no problem saying she was "good for her age" in this period [most of the time].) The NGT audition clearly focused her efforts and caused her to "level up" (as I like to say). From her NGT audition onwards, her pitch control was excellent and her breath control quickly improved. By the time she sang in the NGT finals (at nearly 8½), she had completed her first transition, from a "child singer" to an "amazingly great singer" (nevermind her age). But she still had a certain "childlike hoarseness" in her voice that would occasionally cause her problems at the "transition points" between vocal registers (not just her overall lowest and highest notes, but points in her range "on the way to" those extremes). You can hear this a couple of times in the black-and-white studio version of "I Put a Spell on You", recorded just after she turned 9, but the overall "hoarse" or "raspy" sound of her younger voice was even more pronounced when she was still 8, in a series of performances she gave at the end of 2014, when she was sick and in the aftermath of being sick: "What a Wonderful World" (Nobel Peace Prize Concert), "I'll Be There" (on a Swedish TV special), "At Last" (for a charity TV special), and her Christmas songs - "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", "White Christmas", and "Silent Night" - sung on a couple of TV shows. The next transition would be when she lost the last vestiges of this "hoarseness" or "raspiness". It's hard to pin down exactly when this happened, but I believe it was somewhere between 10½ and 11½. Since then, she's had essentially the same voice up to "today" (the most recent vocals we've heard from her, anyway, in February of this year, in a TV segment recorded in L.A. just before the AGT:C finale aired).

Excellent exposition of Angelina's voice from childhood to adult (and I am only speaking about her voice). The first song I heard her sing where it became obvious to me was "Feeling Good". So for me, the age of 10 has led me to comment on several occasions that from that age Angelina has the inalienable right to "stand tall" with all other professional singers and that any reference to her age os immaterial.

Still enjoy your reactions and analysis of AJ - nice ... interesting note: In an interview, Ivan said that quite often they (meaning AJ LOL) would pick a song, spend an hour or so learning it and then record a vid. And this one looks to me like one of those. I mean, I'm pretty sure AJ is reading the words which are off to her left LOL She is just so special!
