Ariana is currently at her vocal prime, her improvement is insane, those old clips don’t resemble what she’s capable of. They should’ve chosen better and more current clips since she’s being compared to Lea Michelle, who is in Broadway, and as we know, they’re more focused on technique there than on Pop music.

You are right, both have an amazing voice, and Ariana Grande has proven she is a real singer. But honestly, my favorite will be Lea Michele. Not only has she an amazing voice, but she is able to make a song her own and put emotion in it. I cry when I listen to some of her renditions, because of the emotion she put in them. So Lea Michele as a winner is OK for me ! ;-)

FYI there were really old videos for Lea too, not just for Ariana. The person who made the video put more recent clips for Ariana than Lea's, the most recent clip for Lea was the note on Maybe This Time which was from last year... also it's very rare for Lea to do lip sync because she doesn't need it, for example Lea had to do lip sync on the Thanksgiving Day Parade for technical issues of live streaming on tv, but on the Rockefeller Tree Lighting she was one of the few people who sang live. But anyway, both are awesome, both have improve over the years and I love both but my favorite is Lea Michele for sure.

Honestly in total Lea really uses her voice to the fullest. If you only compare high notes few can compete with Ariana. Still Ariana with her "heady" belt will have an easier time going for those high notes. In total Lea is superior in technique and using what she's born with.

FYI, a lot of the Glee tour was lip synced. There was definitely live singing mixed in but they added some lip synced parts, especially parts with really high notes, so the singers didn't have to strain their voices every night on tour. I think Lea's final note on Halo was lip synced because I saw another recording where it definitely was.

Both ladies were both superb. Love them both. A Question I am 31 male I being improving my techniques a lot. Can get classified as an ALTO. I always that I was tenor but then again I dropped my tone and quality at C#3 and down G#2 My typical support range (G#2-A2)-(C6-D6) I am super surprised that I am able to regain my vocal range bc I have TMJ/jaw locks problem for past few years. Glad I have my love towards sing again. I always prefer singing at E3/F3-(F#5-A5) Plus hear my comfort range is C3-G5. Is it possible to get classified as have a female type. Plus with KZbin instrumentals of female song I alway keep at original I can’t lowered/ or use the male version to me it a hard task to sing lower. My pastor of my church want for me sing lower but it fun to try to sing lower I am quite jealous to honest to hear men having lower singing voice.

I think Lea is a stronger singer for sure but something about Ariana is waaaaay more likable to me and she also creates original songs which I have preference over compared to doing covers. I would go see Ariana live but even though Lea is a good singer I wouldn't be as hype to see her live. Overall I'd say I prefer Ariana but it just goes to show you how much more goes into being a successful singer than just being technically skilled.

I love both of them... Ariana has more of a brighter kinda piercing tone while Lea's though not as bright but fuller, can be piercing... which is part of why i love them. I think it’s hard to decide but in my opinion their styles are hardly comparable. Pop is always more breathy but on the riffs and runs side. If the latter were to be credited , Ariana would have won each and every time. Overall I find Lea‘s tone a bit forward and very intrusive, do I might have gone for Ariana mostly.

well its “almost” exactly the same, ‘cos most of it is actually same.. In order to keep their actors’ vocal chords safe and healthy they lipsynced a lot on the glee tour. So for example that Halo note is definitely lipsynced..
