I saw Barry open for Earth, Wind, and Fire about 24 years ago. It was a concert that I will never forget. He was as good live as the video. He was also charming and funny. In those days, just Barry on the jukebox was enough to bring a place to their feet and jam a dance floor. Amazing talent.

He was a record producer! Greatest make-out singer for guys back then. This was during the Disco era, but he also sang slower, very sexy hits, too My favorite of his was the pre-disco 70s hit, "Never, Never Gonna Give You Up"

Well..'Can't get enough of your love, Babe' was the first dance wedding song for a lot of us boomers...that's how much we appreciated Barry White. So many great songs. .many of which he wrote or co-wrote. Bass singers as solo artists aren't that common..which makes me love his singing even more. Nice pick.

I would think that Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers would qualify for this category particularly on their song, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". As far as expressiveness goes, some people such as the Scots are lucky enough to have it built into their voices...

Barry White and Isaac Hayes are the best known bass singers in pop/R&B music, but they were primarily active in the 1970s. If you're looking for contemporary bass singers, there's Geoff Castellucci of Voiceplay, and Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix. Both have solo recordings as well as their group material.

Damn you, and the people who asked for this. The minute the song started i had to pause it and look up John Cage (Ally McBeal) dancing to Barry White compilation, and especially the part where Barry White performs this song in the series. Reliving those moments where glorious, but now i have to rewatch the entire series. I miss Ally McBeal quality TV-series.

Something I noticed about Barry, is that his speaking voice was lower than his singing voice. And, I honestly have quite a low voice myself, but it didn’t drop so far down in my early teens. For whatever reason it actually dropped so low in my early twenties.

He purposely sang above his speaking range. By the quality if his sound you can hear that he was belting. This fits the lyrics of the song.

@@friedemannkemm63 You’ve misread a lot of what I wrote. I had thought that you viewed me as criticizing his vocals, so I tried to clear up that misconception, that I am not. And not once did I imply that you were critical of him. However, just for the record, I have over time learned how to belt as I’ve gotten to know my own voice better. It’s been a slow process, but I am untrained and have to make my own breakthroughs.

Playback on the music, but not his vocals. I did some of these shows in Italy and Germany in the 70s, early 80s and it was usually the German TV that wanted you to lip sync and the Italian TV you to sing live with a backing track. Not sure if that is what is happening here, but that's my experience
