It's called Americana
@jeremylilly10545 жыл бұрын
@@reddragonready Americana is pretty much a term people use to describe real music because they don't know what else to call it. It's such a broad term. Just because most popular music is generic and meaningless doesn't mean that all real music should be thrown into one general category
@reddragonready5 жыл бұрын
@@jeremylilly1054 I disagree and so does the AMA and the Grammy committee. They find it quite possible to define the genre. And pop music is not always meaningless or generic and can most definitely be "real" music yet is clearly not Americana.( I suggest you check out people like Kate Bush or Marina and the Diamonds for non generic pop music with meaning) Classical music and Celtic music are "real" music and clearly not Americana. All over the world roots music is being made which is "real" music and yet clearly not Americana.
@jeremylilly10545 жыл бұрын
@@reddragonready When you have people like Tyler Childers and Colter Wall being thrown into it, then you can see that's exactly what happens. Tyler himself doesn't even consider himself an Americana artist. The AMA and Grammy awards don't mean anything either. The big music corporations are the ones behind everything, just look at what Nashville has done to modern country music. Also I've checked out pop artists like Marina and even Billie Eilish, and I wouldn't consider it "real" feeling. The lyrics are full of meaning, but the way they sing and all the electronic sounds in pop take away from the sincerity
@reddragonready5 жыл бұрын
@@jeremylilly1054 It's clear you are an individual of limited intellect and a closed mind. No point in arguing with someone such as that. I said my piece for those unfamiliar with the genre and otherwise might just have your input on the matter. Chris Stapleton is not "a genre in himself" but falls under the header Americana. A genre well enough definable as to be distinct from the individual genres it is an amalgamation of. Whether other artists fall under that header or not is not the subject under discussion. Bye bye! Ps people who take issue with being called Americana artist..should not go to Americana award shows and accept award for best newcomer in Americana less they come off as hypocritical attention seekers.
