Dallas Green is one of those magical artists... I stumbled upon a live set some day when I was zapping through the tv and this guy and his guitar caught my attention.... ended up listening to the whole concert and ordering concert tickets a day later :D Wasn't disappointed. One of the few musicians who don't need fancy lights and clowning around the stage, just a guy, his band and two and a half hours of pure joy.

I wonder if it was the same live concert I caught on TV. I was cleaning the women's "plus" changeroom at the YMCA one night, it was closing time, and I heard a familiar voice on the TV. It must have been some time around 2010, he had already put out Save Your Scissors, which I was on the fence about lol. I think he might have also had put out Sleeping Sickness, which I did like (love Gord Downie), but the songs he sung on the TV that night were new to me, gave me shivers, and I became a fan that night. I could NOT believe how incredible his voice was, the raw emotion of his music, the way he played acoustic guitar... I realized that night he was so so so much more than the two songs above I mentioned. I'll never forget that moment.

How are JUST now listening to, hearing, & covering his FANTASTICALLY BITER-SWEET, HOPEFULL, MELANCHOLY but FORWARD THINKING song or even to Mr. AMAZINGLY AWESOME & ANGELICAL & MUCICALLY, LYRICALLY & VOCALLY TALENTED & CLOSEST TO GOD BUT STILL HUMAN, YET PERFECTION of Dallas Green?.... just sayin’. City & Colour is literal peace, hope, introspection in a useful way, notes that create stability in people whom suffer from mental disabilities or mental issue diagnosis’s.... I have loved & listened for over 15 years, he is also in Alexis On Fire, another band, that’s almost the complete opposite of this current Dallas... but if you are bipolar, that’s LIFE, a perfect contradiction, chaotic peace, once broken & come undone yet glued back together, 1 side is opposite the other, but that is what makes it special! Glad you are giving him some more deserved recognition! Thanks for that! Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, I always recognize this guitar when I see him use it. It was his guitar teacher’s. Dallas wrote a song about him, Ralph. The song is called “Missing”. He rarely plays this song live because of how emotional it makes him to sing it, but it’s one of my wishes to see him perform it. I’ve already seen him live 5 times and I’ll never get enough of that voice.

No, Dallas never had singing lessons.
@bradspitt38963 жыл бұрын
He may not have had lessons, but no way there's not hours and hours of figuring out what works, learning about his own voice and body, listening and mimicking his heroes, and even getting tips and tricks from networking and touring with others. For example, he may not have had lessons, but how is it that the flow of air coming out is incredibly controlled and consistent, or like the teacher said, he has very little attack on the consonants? It has to be intentional.
@justinsayswtf2 жыл бұрын
@@bradspitt3896 He gave an interview recently where he said he learned to sing by singing along to Jeff Buckley songs, and he improved by working at it almost every day of his life for the last 20 years, so you are definitely correct.

Let me start by saying I usually don't watch vocal coach reactions because they typically stop the video alot and critique the singer and of course that's to be expected but this i did because it's Dallas Green I used to think his voice was unmatchable and that no one could come close to his sound and then I see this and I'm like " Geez man that guy came so close to him that now I wonder how many other singers can come close to his sound I don't even know how to feel about it but shoot man I have to give you respect your obviously very good and gifted yourself when you were doing it it was damn near creepy how close you came to matching him ..and what I really like is that your humble enough to admit you said you took or were able to learn from him knowing fans are watching you and many would be turned off if you came across as arrogant with the attitude of" I can do that " while demonstrating that you CAN do that ..very clever of you ..your intelligent and I was inspired myself listening to you mimic what he was doing . This was a suprise for me . I would ask less stoppages for critiquing as I'm sure most people just want to see someone go " wow what a voice " even though they know it's a singer reacting and the urge to critique is overwhelming . Thanks for this . I'll check out more of your reaction . God bless
