Dimash Kudaibergen, is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is university trained in classical as well as contemporary music, and is known for his exceptionally wide vocal range. He has performed songs in twelve languages. He is 27 now, but this performance was several years ago when he was 22 or 23 I believe. He has fans in over 160 countries and calls them DEARS as we are dear to him like family. In many opinion he is the greatest vocalist of our time. Another amazing thing about Dimash is he brings the world together. Consider you are an English speaking person watching a Kazakh kid sing in French on a Chinese singing competition. There are no boundaries and people come from all over world to see him live in concert and sing songs in multiple languages. Beyond the spectacular voice Dimash is a kind, humble, well raised young man and his fans adore him for this. Dimash's highest note is a D8 which was performed live at one of his performances. He is an independant artist by the way and has team Dimashali that produces his art.

Yes it was a Chinese talent show. What makes this program unique is that all the contestants are well known professionals. Dimash (the foreigner) was granted entry as a "wild card" as the producers didn't think he'd get past the first round. He literally blew them away and the rest is history.

Dimash was offered a position with Astana Opera, which he refused. His preference is to pursue mixed genre singing. He does a little bit of everything fabulously well. He even raps. He was only 22 here. He's a big star in China (lived in Beijing for 3 years developing that) and in Russia, where he works a lot with Igor Krutoy (one of his childhood idols) He had a major tour of the US and Europe planned for last year, - canceled for Covid. Did do a sell-out show at Barclays Stadium in Dec. of 2019. Planning to move to US (temporarily) when the pandemic is over, to establish his career throughout the Americas. This contest is for established professionals - 13-14 episodes, winners voted by audience. Dimash was completely unknown then in China - they had him go first and asked the audience to give him a warm welcome, which they obviously did. He won 1st place for 3 episodes, SOS, Opera 2 and Adagio. When you listen to Adagio, please do listen to the version on The Singer. It's by far the best. After this performance the SOS track went viral overnight, getting millions of views. He woke up a full super star in China. His Queen medley with Super Vocal Boys is amazing. His duet with Aida Garifullina, singing Igor Krutoy's Ulysses, is phenomenal and of course gives a hint of the opera career he could have had. Wonderfully resonant baritone voice. Wait for Ogni Pietra(Olimpico) and Unforgettable Day - Gakku. Dimash does opera, pop, R&B, jazz scatting, rap, Kasack folk music, angel, alien and dolphin, often combining genres not only in one song but in one phrase of a song. His influences are Michael Jackson, Pavarotti, Eminem, Queen, Lara Fabian and his very patriotic devotion to his homeland Kazakhstan. Trained since the age of five when he was presented to a prestigious music academy and found to have perfect pitch. His parent are stars in their own right - Mom in opera and Dad in pop. He was offered a permanent position in the Astana Opera Company and declined to invent his own unique style of music. He hold degrees in both classical and contemporary music and I think just recently completed his doctorate in musical composition. He speaks fluently in Kasack and Russian and is learning Mandarin and English. He sings in 12 languages and plays multiple instruments. He dances well and is handsome enough to have done modeling and is on last months cover of GQ in Kazakhstan n. He has a red belt in taekwondo and is a swimmer. He does so much charitable work that he is considered a cultural ambassador for Kazakhstan and was honored by their president on his recent 27th birthday. He has partnered with Michael Kors to combat world hunger. He doesn't just sing, he creates performance art with every appearance. So when record companies try to pigeonhole him in a specific genre he politely and firmly says no. He is already world famous and when he did his first American concert at the Barclay Center in NYC (available on You Tube) people flew in from 140 countries and from all over the US to hear him. The West is a bit slow to catch on because his introduction was delayed by Covid last year. Prepare for the musical ride of your life, astonishment at every turn. His fans are called Dears because he is constantly acknowledging how dear to his heart his fans are and how much he appreciates them. He is amazingly humble and aware of the trappings and stumbling blocks of celebrity and already is planning when he can just be another member of a concert audience and a teacher. Yes, it was a 2017 competition held in China called I Am Singer when Dimash was 22 yrs. old and all those backstage WOW's are coming from his competition. He was a special invitee from Kazakhstan and he's had musical and voice training since he was 5 yrs. old. He's now 27 and you have only just begun to appreciate his musical genius and the special charm of this multi-talented but very humble young man. He also plays several instruments including piano. As others also say, including many vocal coaches and professional singers, young Mr. 6 octave + silken voiced Dimash is the BEST vocalist they've ever heard. It's hard to recommend any one of his particular performances since they are all amazing. Just don't stop with SOS...pick another one and keep going. You'll be glad you did. He sings in a number of genres and a number of languages including English, which he is also studying. He does a sustained D8 whistle tone at Gakku singing "Unforgettable Day" and a whole series of unbelievable high notes doing Opera 2 and will shock the heck out of you with his final note in Across Endless Dimensions.. Adagio is pure drama and sung in English as is his version of Queen's The Show Must Go On, Lionel Richie's HELLO....the beautiful Love is like a Dream-New Wave 2019 and Your Love...and he does some great duets that you can find on youtube ...and keep in mind that nearly all of these are LIVE performances.

I am Singers is an invitation only contest. The other contestants are popular singers (imagine Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion in one room). Then there is Dimash, a stranger, unknown in China blew everyone away.

I enjoyed your reaction. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. Dimash is from Kazakhstan where he is very famous. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place went to the famous Chinese 51 y/o singer Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place, however, lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of “Uptown Funk”. Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest contestants/performers are each required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang “Unforgettable Day”, a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh as well as in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash’ss performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. Dimash has trained in music since he was 5 years old. He said he started taking individual voice lessons at age fifteen. He holds degrees in classical music (vocal) 2014, contemporary music (vocal) 2018. In June of 2020 he received his masters in composition, and is currently working on his doctorate in musicology. He has said many times as long as he sings he will train. His parents are both well know singers in Kazakhstan. His mother in opera, and his father contemporary. He sings in 12 languages, and plays multiple instruments, including drums, piano, and dombra. This video was from Singer and was in 2017, he was 22 years old. He was young at 22, but at 6'3" not small. LOL In the last four years he has improved, if that is even possible, but he has. He was offered a position with the Astana Opera, but he turned it down not wanting to be locked into one genre. It left him open to go every and any direction he wants to, and he has taken full advantage of it. He sings opera, contemporary, etc. Just recently he released a song called Be With Me that I think fits into only the Dimash Genre. LOL Just today he released a song written by Ranat Gaissan. He does sing some background vocal in the song, but the song is more instrumental with Ranat playing keyboard and Dimash playing dombra. It is outstanding to listen to. He had just started a world tour when the pandemic began. I attended his sold out concert at Barclay's in New York in 2019, and it was ethereal. Keep on your journey with Dimash, he will not disappoint, and will continue to surprise. I do recommend you stay away from anything to do with The Worlds Best. To make a long story short, they heavily edited all of his songs down to something almost not recognizable, and they treated him horribly. Dears don't like those videos at all. Blessings to you!

Dimash sings all genres, he plays 7 musical instruments really well, in fact he was winning piano competitions well before singing competitions. He just turned 27 on 24th May 2021. He has been classically trained since the age of 5. Two University degrees in Classical and Contemporary/Jazz singing. A Masters Degree in Composition with a perfect score (he composes wonderful songs), he is currently studying for his Doctorate in Musicology. He will be moving to the US at the end of this year and will be working with the promoter of Celine Dion, Leona Lewis, Witney Houston and other famous singers, who heard him sing in Dimash’s sell solo concert in New York at the Barclay Centre in December 2019. Dimash is THE greatest vocalist of ALL time, there are no doubts about that… His parents are both famous singers in Kazakhstan, his Mother sings Opera and his Dad sings Pop and is also a music producer. Dimash is seen as THE best singer in the world by millions of his fans called "dears". After this performance, the professionals he was competing with fell in love with him, but hated following after his performance. The phone lines were were jammed with calls and after one performance he needed bodyguards every where he went. Overnight he became a star to the Chinese audience, who loved him. He has done sell out concerts around the world, is family oriented with a high set of standards for his life. There is no other singer/performer that is a match for DIMASH the legend. This song SOS is one of the five hardest songs for any singer and he "killed" it. I have never heard any other person sing SOS quite as masterfully, I was shocked about 4 years ago the first time I heard DIMASH do this favorite song of mine (for close to 30 years back)

Great first reaction to the king Dimash. Record deals? Nope, he turned down all offers because nobody granted (so far) the complete artistic freedom he wants. He works with several people (for example, he has a label for the Chinese market which released his first album ID... by the way, it went platinum in 37 seconds), but exclusivity is not given to anyone. So he is basically an independent artist, who does what he wants to do, and only works with people he trusts. His agent is his father, his sound engineer is his best friend, his musicians and backing vocalists are also his friends. He produces his own MVs. He defines himself basically as a live performer, and although he has recorded beautiful songs for movies, series and videogames, it's live where you can take the true dimension of his greatness. His concerts are amazing, he sings pop, folk, classic, dances, plays instruments... several genres and songs in several languages. People fly from all over the world to hear him sing live (or did, until Covid put all on pause), he is able to gather people from all ages, nationalities, languages, ethnicities, religions and cultural backgrounds. Now, four years after this first performance on the Chinese "Singer" competition, believe it or not, he is even better. In addition, he is a great human being, so as much as he is admired as an artist, he is loved because of the kind of man he is.

Though nobody in the Universe can touch him, there is a female singer that can stand toe to toe with the likes of Mariah and Whitney, and maybe just slightly above. Her name is "SO HYANG", and she is Korean. She like Dimash are true "EARTH ANGELS"!! They both come out of the woodwork at a crucial time when the souls of humans need healing. Please do not hesitate to watch So Hyang sing, "YOU RAISED ME UP" and "BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER"!! Think of Whitney when she sings "I HAVE NOTHING"!! There are two a first one far away from the stage and a second video up close and personal. That's the one you need to watch!! Then there is "LEAN ON ME" with Michael Bolton watching her!! Yes, more Dimash, please. Can you imagine after you see how great So Hyang is, a concert with both?? Now a real treat is Dimash singing OPERA 2, pick the one that says (dad is in the audience) and watch to the end. His dad traveled from Kazakhstan to Beijing to surprise Dimash and at the end of the song when Dimash sees him it's pure "PRICELESS"!! This was the first night of a Chinese singing competition show called "I Am a Singer" several years ago. Dimash was invited as a wildcard, and performed first. They probably figured "let's let the new guy get his performance out of the way so we can get on to the 'real' acts"... not surprisingly, he won that first evening's competition (and several others, as well). He hit E6 in this performance (twice), and he hits D8 in another performance (Unforgettable Day at Gakku).

Yes, it was a competition and he was competing against Chinese professional singers.He was unknown in China at that time. The judges are the audience who are either singers or musicians. What you have just watched was the first episode of the program and he was the first one to perform because, according to some people, he was perceived as the weakest link. I heard that he was invited to join as a wild card. During the competition, Jackie Chan noticed him, their meeting was arranged and to cut the story short, they became friends. After the competition, Dimash spent most of his time in China for approximately 3 years and his name always appear in the list of participants during important Chinese celebration. Chinese DEARS love Dimash so much. He is a big help to his government in spreading their culture around the globe.

I've been watching Dimash reactions for several years now, and although you asked a lot of questions in this reaction, I'll leave most of the answers to everyone else. The one I'll answer is a bit obscure, but for me, one of the most interesting. You commented, as many others have, about the futility of going after a performer like Dimash. Well, it happens that, at the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition where this performance took place, Dimash was an international guest visitor, and since the show's staff weren't familiar with him and didn't know what to expect, they scheduled him singing SOS (this song) AS THE FIRST ACT ON NIGHT ONE. Dear God, I expect they ALL wanted to go home right then! They didn't, though. Actually, they were all great friends during the whole thing, another thing that I find personally refreshing. Based on your comments, here are a few other Dimash performances you might consider, in no particular order : Ogni Pietra, Screaming (studio version), Unforgettable Day (Gakku), Sinful Passion, Diva Dance, and Across Endless Dimensions. There are SO many more performances beyond those! These will give you a fairly wide range of his work, though. ENJOY!

What really impacts is that he touches your soul, and he dosnt do it with the lowest or highest note, but with everything else. As he tells you, he begs you, cries or makes you smile from ear to ear while you get goose bumps and you don't even know what the lyrics say. Dimash has sung a sustained D8 with vibrato in “Unforgettable day Gakku”, and A1 in “Drunken Concubine and Diva Dance”. ,Dimash has been very prolific despite the restrictions of Covid, giving us many music videos in the last year, among them, “Across Endless Dimensions”, Qairan Elim, Qaragym- Ai, Be with me, SOS for President Biden’s inauguration, all of the above available on his KZbin channel. And released just yesterday, “Rivers of love”, an instrumental piece (Dimash also plays 7 instruments, this one is a traditional Kazakh instrument called a Dombra). Before Covid, he was on an European tour and came to New York in December 2019, with 18,000 people attending from 64 countries. I was there!!! You can also find that whole concert on his KZbin channel, it is called Arnau New York, part 1 and 2. I would suggest listening next to “Sinful Passion”, Moscow Fancam version, that is the best!

He can sing from opera to rap...but he is more than just a voice. I don't say this lightly--but he honestly has "no holes". He has a spectacular voice, plays 7 instruments, has perfect pitch, speaks 2 1/2 languages (Russian, Kazakh, he's working on English), sings in a whole bunch more...he's working on his doctorate (in composition, I think?), has a wonderful stage presence, is modest and grateful to the people he works with, endearing to his fans and audience, has sponsored a number of charities, grew up with traditional family values--respect for his elders, love of his country and culture.....oh, and he's 6'3" and cute :) Can you tell I'm smitten with him? He was trained in classical & contemporary music, and is well known for his exceptional widest vocal range. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it, to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning and imitating. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his career the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living out our day to day life. His hard work for years is indeed bearing good fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a public listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the good content and message of its music. The fact that, he is able to sing his music at maximum or more than 6 octaves with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said Ooh… is Dimash human..? Alien..? I believed that Dimash 21 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted by God with grace for music but his years of hard work of practice and experiences proved it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death) SONG FACTS: The song is from French Rock Opera called Starmania. Originally it was sung by Daniel Balavoine who had a sudden death in a helicopter accident in 1986, who is known of his beautiful voice. Later, it was covered by Gregory Lemarchal, a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse” who at all odds won the 4th series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health and became an overnight success in France but had a shorter career, for he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Recently it was unbelievably covered by Dimash and from time to time Dimash sung it in memory of his great friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. The song has sad lyrics: “a soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress” because it is a human being who is in anguish searching for the absolute. MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION OF THIS SONG (REF CCC): Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our human life’s , but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discerned well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that, it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with humility, discernment and faith in God. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any kind of pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed up of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow over time in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand. Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are only strangers and pilgrims on this earth”. Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end, we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. The truth is… in front of death we are all poor and powerless. If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. Death is such a peaceful, joyful event in our life, if we die reconciled with God and at peace with others as well. Death is unknown to all of us, therefore, it is best that we should prepare at all times. Dimash sings lots of genres. pop: "hello" a cover of Lionel Ritchies song folk: "Samaltau" a kazakh song about being drawn to the russian military in 1916, saying goodbye from the parents and the homeland. movie title song: "Across endless dimensions". classical: "Ti amo cosi" with Aida Garifullina from the opera of Vienna and Lara Fabian (comtemporary) or "Ulysse" with Aida Garifullina. alien: The song of the blue alien from the movie "the fifth element" at different occasions Lots of more songs from different genres to react to. Often crossovers with techniques from all over the spectrum. Or classical singing technique but ambiente and orchestra more in pop style so as "ogni pietra", what is an epic full frontal powerful performance where he sings the bariton part of the father with lots of resonance and then the alto-soprano part of the mother to encourage their kid.

Fans from every corner of the planet have been banding together to make Dimash the #1 most requested artist on MTV's youtube channel Friday Livestream for 9 of the past 10 weeks. That program resumes on Friday, June 4 (5-8 pm New York time, calculate your time zone differences) and we need to show up in large numbers in order to protect Dimash's position at the top.
