Yes excellent pronunciation Justin its called [ Maqam / Maqamaat (plural) ْمَقامْ / مَقامات ]. Hearing you acknowledging that warms my heart. What’s unique about the Arabic Scales are technically tiny adjustments but those tiny adjustments give them a very distinguished *MYSTIQUE* ... It’s like an emotional boost specially to the listeners who don’t speak Arabic - I think! - Those moments are the most beautiful element in music. I’m not saying that just cause I’m an Arab or a fan, I’m a [classically-trained] pianist for 25 years since I was 7, the Western Classical Music shaped my artistic identity academically but culturally the Arabic musical catalogue is instrumental in shaping who I am as a person.

Arabic scales are composed of: 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1.5 tone. the 1.5 also is common in Arabic scales like Hijaz, and most Arabic scales have a 1/2 interval between the first and second note. The Occidental music do not use the 3/4s.

The song is called desert rose sung by Cheb mami and sting . Cheb mami is an Algerian singer 🇩🇿 and in his part he’s singing in Raï music which an Algerian genre 🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿 you won’t find this in other Arab countries . The language is Arabic indeed but the genre is Algerian 🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿

She has such precise and powerful voice. She is always hitting the note dead solid perfect. I have never heard her hit a wrong anything and she changes song types all the time. You might want to revisit her. She's currently participating on Singer 2024. After 3 rounds where she sang Crazy (Gnarls Barkley), Set Fire to the Rain (Adele) and Desert Rose, she came second on the first round and won the last two, with Round 4 coming up tomorrow and she's rumoured to be singing Paparazzi (Lady Gaga). She also has a relatively new video out on her YT channel - live performance of her song Fur Elise.

For example: I’m from Kuwait & the iconic #Tunisian vocalist #Thekra (R.I.P) transformed songs from our local folklore into an avant-garde masterpieces in the Arab musical catalogue ! Tunisia is in North Africa and Kuwait is in the Arabian gulf... Our Arabic language, culture & music unite us despite our different nationalities.
