The thing about deris is that all helloween songs are absolutelly high for him. If you get his solo carreer you will listen him singing in very lower keys. Nontheless he sings like this in helloween for more than 25 years and his voice is still there. Then he goes on tour with Michael kiske and sing the higher parts of the vocals. He is a master. A guy who was told that he wasnt good enough for 25 years and When You look back at what he’s done you get impressed.

I saw them when they visited Sweden Rock and Deris sounded terrible, really terrible. I don't know what happened. Kai and Kiske sounded good though.
@gerdokurt3 жыл бұрын
@@TheDryparn He probably was sick, something that can happen. When they started the reunited tour, Kiske was so sick that they had to use playback vocals. Thats how it is when you are 35 years performing on stage, noone can evade that. I saw the "Deris Helloween" many times during a 15 years timespan and Andi always was on point. In my opinion, he is much more versatile than Kiske. And he can overpower Kiske anytime. Kai` voice didnt aged that well, compared to Kiske and Andi. He can still sing several parts or songs, but he is not able anymore to perform a whole 60+ minutes show. Dont get me wrong. In all the "Kiske vs. Deris" discussions, we always have to keep in mind that we talk about 2 vocalists 99.9% of classic/power/speed metal bands would kill for to have one of them.

The thing with Andy is that he dosesn't keep fit and in good shape. He smokes and drinks and all together strongly affects vocal condition. But still love him, after 25 years in helloween he is the main composer and the voice of the band.

Apropos of nothing, but I think it's very cool that during their Pumpkins United tour (with all three singers that have been part of the band), they did most of the ballads with both Deris and Kiske on the microphone. Hi Beth. I highly recommend their latest video on the NUclear Blast Records channel: HELLOWEEN - Halloween (OFFICIAL LIVE CLIP). It features Andi Deris with Helloween's past singer Micheal Kiske. And since it is a live concert, you are able to hear their full vocal range at their advance age (Kiske and Deris are in their 50's) without any sound editing.

This is not a live version of the song, however i think this man (Andi Deris which was one of my favorite singers ever) had many problems with his voice trying to do the same as some singers like Kiske. This Man, his voice is very special, you should take a look at some songs from Helloween like Revelation, Deliver us from temptation, push, hey Lord...etc and his sólo album coming from the rain. I think his voice is not the typical power metal voice, is more aggressive and in some way it reminds me to some classic bands from the 60's and 70's. Their best albums with him are Better than raw, The time of the oath, The dark ride and Master of the rings.

I've been a big fan of Helloween and specially this man and i think he was always compared in a very unfair way with Kiske, to the point they changed dramatically the style of the band in order to get back the classical power metal sound when their albums with Grapow and Kusch are very good, for me their best ones. I hope you understand me (i'm from Spain so my english is not as good as it should)

I see there are a lot of voices asking for their previous singer. His voice is amazing and he'd be a go-to for amazing singers of the 80's-90's. While I have a preference for "Future World," because they play the crowd really well, there are live renditions of "I Want Out" which also showcase his voice quite well, which was still well preserved nearly twenty years later.
@andreaspedersen39525 жыл бұрын
A little surprised that you didnt og for something from the Kiske-era. Michael joined the band when he was just 18, but showed from early on that he had a very mature voice for his age. In less than 2 years he had recorded the 2 albums from the "Keeper of the 7 keys" series, which are considered their best and also among the first and best power-metal albums. Here you can pick the titel track on the second. mostly because of its… epicness? Also Michael does showcase his fantastic range here… at the age of only 19 ;) This song came from a album which is dedicated to their drummer who commited suicide after been kicked from the band. He struggled With the direction the band went, and got some drugs and alcohol issues which made him lose the grip. At this time both the founder of the band Kai Hansen and Kiske had left in the early 90s for the same reason… And the loss of success.
