@3:40 the thing is that in tradition Indian singing, we don't do concerts 😂 it's just pure music. Nothing else... So the musicians will be sitting together and doing their parts... Not dancing when it's not their turn. And Shreya is trained in that style of singing... She's a trained singer, not an entertainer or a performer. That's all.

You can sing like this if you learn Hindustani classical music. Most of the singers who sing like this have learnt classical music. It takes 10 to 15 years or more. Most of the comments the western people make are totally off base. Telling her to sing continuously makes no sense. The music from India is real music, not like what you hear in other Countries. It is over thousand years heritage. The pitch and tone is perfect. She is singing pure classical music notes.

"The music from India is real music, not like what you hear in other countries..." Indian speaking here. That line pretty much ruins everything else you wrote down, it's impossible to take anything seriously now. There's preference in music, nothing's "REAL" or "FAKE" in music. There's even rap music, but you'll say it's not music. Well now go to the same singer and tell her to sing 13 syllables in a single second like Eminem. Can she do it? Obviously not. Because they're different musical styles and different artists are capable of doing different stuff. Just like how Eminem can't sing like her, obviously. Westerners can make mistakes, they don't know our music, they don't have to, and it's our duty to correct any mistakes if they're making any, NOT badmouth them for NO reason. Go listen to Celine Dione or Whitney Houston once, they're one of the most renowned classical singers from the west. Even Indian classical singers would admire them if they are open minded enough. Now imagine an Indian reacting to their music and being like "why aren't they taking long breaks between their lines like Indian singers do?" and westerners go like "yeah that's cuz our music is real music, not like yours". You definitely wouldn't like it would you? So stop being a hypocrite, it's not a request, but an order from a brother because apparently it's these small things which ruin our reputation reputation in the world. And, frankly speaking, grow some level of open mindedness, just some. There're many talented music artists in the world.

Indian here; while I am trained in Hindustani music (vocals), I enjoy Western classical music (Chopin is my favourite composer) as well. But some types of "music" are not music, just *noise*, like rap, for instance. Its place of origin is not important, just like Western classical music is just as beautiful as Hindustani music, just in a different way.

Massive respect for trying to nail the notes. Also you have what's called a good ear for the exact note (as in also by people who understand this style of music) and the vocal tone is also pretty good (Indian classical tends to be full bodied on high notes also). There are actually lots of channels that teach Indian classical on YT itself if you're interested. I think you're right. You'd pick up enough to get that instinctive sense for which notes fit and how, though I don't know if there's a substitute for living with these sounds everywhere. I'm not a vocalist, but understanding those notes is not a problem at all, just from exposure. She's meant to be sliding like that and has nailed the pitch. That's really beautifully executed. One thing about the most of mainstream Indian female singers, is that they are very very high sopranos, their normal voices sit very high as compared to say American female singers, where the chest dominant style of singing(Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey) is(WAS) prominent, but in India, their voices sound nasal(but its not), there is no concept of separation of belting and head voice, so it feels like they are only singing in a head dominated mixed voice.
