You're exactly right... Marcelito never had vocal training whatsoever, he just learned how to micmic what he hears.... That's even more amazing!!

I've been following Marcelito for a while now. What amazes me is that he is totally self-taught. He grew up on the streets from age 7. He discovered that he could sing in his "male" voice while working on a chicken farm. He would sing to the chickens, lucky chickens. He won Philippians Got Talent in 2011. He was on AGT The Champions in 2020. He placed 4th, though I think he should have won. He was the only singer to make it to the top 5. He is a truly amazing person. During Covid, he has helped the poor in his country. In addition to singing in his native language, he sings in English, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese. He's not fluent in any of those other languages.

Great analysis. Marcelito Pomoy is a treasure of the Philippines that needs to be shared with the world. He's definitely in the elite singing bracket. He blows people out of the water. Loved this reaction. You are spot on, Marcelito does learn songs by listening to the artists that's how he is able to sing songs in languages he doesn't speak, bless him. He is like my African grey who can hear a sound and without practice can immediately replay it. He anticipates as well. Move toward the microwave, he is a microwave. Pick up the phone he is ringing and saying hello and goodbye. He loves to fool my husband too! Marcelito had no formal training, instead taught himself singing to chickens as he cleaned their coops.

Never had singing lessons - he was homeless and living on the streets of the Phillipines at age 7 until 24 when he won Phillipines Got Talent. He said when he got scared he would sing. He has God gifted talent and he does a lot of training on his own.

I was told by many Italian reactors, they said he does sounds like Andrea ? Seriously, his voice is Godgifted. No vocal coach can teach anyone to sing like that?

Well, in a blind fold test I guess I wouldn't confuse his voice with Andrea's although he copies a lot of the sound elements very well. But maybe that is because I'm very, very familiar with Andrea's voice. I agree that he has a very beautiful voice. With regards to whether people can be taught to sing like that, I'm afraid that question can't simply be answered with a yes or no. It depends on many factors.

Thank you for your beautiful explanation. No one can give us the clarity of how Marcelito does his singing style, but a singing coach teacher like you. I also would suggest you try to hear his rendition of Go the distance, which he sang together with the best singers of GMA. I hear him how amazing he performed, topping his level with them. History on Marcelito......and 2 more songs at bottom...if you want ***Marcelito Pomoy is Filipino and has an AMAZING backstory. He is self-taught -- his Dad was incarcerated when Marcelito was young and Marcelito's mom abandoned both him and his younger sibling when he was only 2. He was adopted by a police officer, but he was a virtual orphan and lived on the streets from 8 years old on and only made it through 3rd grade in school. He started singing when he was 7, but didn't realize until he was 18 that he could do both male and female voices He doesn't speak English nor Italian fluently (which makes his "The Prayer" below even more amazing!). He was the Grand Winner of the 2nd season of Philippines Got Talent. He was also recently on America‘s Got Talent The Champions and blew even more people away with his amazing talent What’s even more impressive is that he never had any voice training at all. It’s just from singing all the time to keep his spirits up. Obviously, Celine Dion is one of his heroes. There is a KZbin video of him singing on the Ellen DeGeneres show… And she then gives him the gift of getting to meet his hero and see her in concert To Understand this He speaks 90% Tagalog (not sure which region / dialect) Singing Canadian English, and Italian.....
