There is no such thing as "correct genre" for the Superbowl, plenty of pop artist's have done it before Maroon 5. They just didn't bring it, period. It was more than clear to me that Adam Levine was trying to sing through the regret of ever having agreed to do this.

@@Nicole-qc5dh Their songs are too mellow for the Superbowl. They're basically ballads. And, I feel that for the Superbowl you need something more funky, rock, punk, hip hop ish. I feel bad for them bc another person that performed at the Super Bowl said they couldn’t hear anything but static in their ear pieces. I’m guessing that was why he seemed so nervous. We all know he’s a great unique singer. He also seems like a sweet person. I’ll never forget him paying for Christina Grimmie’s funeral and I think I heard they donated the proceeds of the Super bowl to charity.

Kimberly Ball idt they would ever say if it was technical just bc that would just seem like an excuse to some ppl so it’s honestly better to just apologize and take the heat than to seem like they are complaining. You can look it up they donated $500,000 to charity, but Idk how much they get paid or if they even do. It was first put out that they donated the proceeds to charity but later was revealed they donated $500,000 as did the NFL. There are articles online about it. So if they don’t get paid I guess that came out of their pocket, which is nice but if they only donated $500,000 and got paid a lot more than that it is still nice of them but not as nice as donating it all would have been.
@brookico5 жыл бұрын
Nope Ha! I never said he was smart lol.. Any entertainer or celeb that was truly smart would stay away from politics bc no matter what their view is half the country is going to have a different one. Maroon 5 hurt themselves with liberals and conservatives. They hurt themselves with liberals by not out right refusing to perform bc of Kaepernick feeling as if he is being blacklisted. They hurt themselves with conservatives by saying their half time show was gonna cater to SJW’s and donating to a SJW charity. So instead of just being Switzerland, so to speak, they made both sides mad at them, which was not smart. They should have learned their lesson from the NFL itself who also has done the SAME thing. They first had conservatives and a lot of veterans mad by allowing players to kneel so in protest a lot of fans started burning their NFL stuff and stopped buying tickets. THEN, they hurt themselves with liberals bc they believe the NFL treated Kaepernick unfairly. So, last year the super bowl dropped a lot in ratings, I know a lot of ppl that refused to watch and most of them still didn’t come back and start watching even after Kaepernick opted out of his contract and wasn’t signed. Then this year the ratings were at an all time low bc they also lost a lot of liberals that are boycotting bc of Kaepernick not being signed. Personally, I’m just tired of outrage culture. In the long run this prob won’t have too much of an effect on Maroon 5 bc as soon as they release the next catchy hit ppl will buy it. Just like ppl complained about Timberlake’s ( pretty awful IMO) performance and how he did Janet wrong etc. and he still sells albums just fine.

I don't want to appear biased but I have the impression that after I watch the performances of heavy metal singers and then I watch presentations like this, it's not the same thing, it seems to me that the heavy metal singers have more technical and powerful voices as opposed to pop singers, like this guy that sounds not so good for me. I kinda said it on Twitter in a short manner, but I'll elaborate here: rapping was straight up not needed and took away from Maroon 5's performance. Adam seemed like he cut himself off many times at the end of phrases, and there were several voice cracks. Vocally for me it felt like it was quite under, but I guess I'm harsh because I've watched other concerts where he does amazing. This performance for me felt like it was a last minute thing.

Have to agree with you for that one. The transitions were awful, especially compared to some of the perfomances in the last years, e.g. Lady Gaga in 2017 and Coldplay in 2016 mixed a few genres as well and it worked way better. This year's halftime show just seemed like they were trying to put way too many things in one perfomance to get a bigger audience cause a lot of people don't like Maroon 5. Pretty bad for Adam and the boys though since they didn't have that much to do with it and probably will be hated for this for the next few years. Adam even seemed uncomfortable himself a lot during this perfomance. Not a big Maroon 5 fan but if you want to see some better vocals from Adam, you should check out his cover of Purple Rain for the Howard Stern Show a few years ago.

Not sure if you followed the politics and whatnot about who would be performing at the super bowl half time show, but a lot of huge singers/celebrities turned down an invitation to perform because they were standing with Colin Kaepernik. He was kneeling at football games during the national anthem in protest of the treatment of racial minorities. Basically it was a whole thing that you can read about/look up, and people felt that Adam was sort of "selling his soul",as some people put it, for a paycheck. lol this whole situation is probably why he was so nervous and short of breath onstage.I also heard that they put all of this together in like 3 weeks. I later found out, other acts cancelled/could make it, so they went down the list till the first act that could make it, and that was Maroon 5, so.. fair enough. Well, i have to admit, i was pleasantly surprised, they did a pretty decent show, songs translated better than i expected, and the show was pretty good. (sure i've seen better too, but it wasnt bad) Now, i did spot mistakes too, but having a background as a sound technician, i suspect he could not hear himself too well, i know he can sing better than that, more on key too, so i suspect his monitoring was not like it should be, and the overall sound mix was off, either the audio limiter on studio side compressed it too much, or the sound-technician had issues. So all in all, was it flawless? far from, but was i entertained? well.. yes, i was.. Maroon 5 left a better impression with me, than i had before, partly due to the technical issues i spotted (i didnt list all, only the obvious ones) Funny for me, i am not even a Maroon 5 fan, but they gained my respect, certainly after this. Because dont forget, no matter how big these stars are, the superbowl humbles all of them, each and everyone who does the half-time show is very nervous, its the biggest audience they ever will get, and they realize it can make, or break them. (And certainly for acts like Maroon 5, the pressure is real) But... yes, purely on vocals, he didnt do well, i was referring to the show as a whole.

Frogman hahahaha, yeah, Adam leaps at the end of all of Maroon 5's concerts. It's this signature-Rockstar thing he always does to end it all.

I’m learning about breathing while exercising right now actually. It’s much harder than I expecte. I’m chronically ill and was basically bed bound for two years a few years ago. I’m better than I was but still really struggling. Now that my mom has late stage cancer I simply must get better stamina. So I’m walking. But I’m so weak I couldn’t do more than five minute walks a few times a day (even that had me injured for two weeks at one point). I have to increase really slowly or I get hurt or my brain freaks out and perceives a ton of pain. So I’m adding a minute to each walk every four days or so, or another set for each day, only .1mph every week. It’s been over a month and I’m now up to four ten minute walks at 1.4mph. When I want to increase my speed but I know I can’t quite yet, because of my body still freaking out, I’ve been talking, reciting poetry (the meter helps keep it a constant flow), or singing. I’ve been a singer forever, was in high honor choir, and went to the nationals. But I mostly sing when playing the piano or harp, sitting. I get SO out of breath SO fast! It’s crazy! It’s really hard to physically pull in the air. But I think it’s a good thing to work on, a sort of lung capacity practice. It’ll help me be able to breathe easier, not singing, when I up my speed more, especially when I start jogging. It’s really uncomfortable, but I think it’s a good way to add another level that will help me progress, even while I’m hampered by my really embarrassing weakness and lack of stamina.

Definitely react to Adam Levine best live vocals because he was definitely way to nervous during half time performance and can do way better. Same goes last year for Justin Timberlake I feel like they both were way to nervous and could have done way better. Cause I’ve seen both of theirs live performances online and they do way better during their concerts then they did during half time shows:))

Joelle M They have both been active in the business for over 25 years. How many more years do you think they need before they can channel their nervousness? Also, wasn't last year Justin's third Super Bowl appearance?

I could be wrong, but I think it was a typo. She was probably meant "pitch" because he was pitchy at the beginning. As far as "sptinkle" goes ... that's just pure RVA.
