To say that Miley doesn’t present to how ladies should to present, you’re valid to say that. She doesn’t care what anyone says whole heartedly, she’s edgy and things and that’s what makes her stand out. Which we saw what her trying to be molded how it turned out, not very great. And she can do different genres so that’s what stands out as well. She still identifies with can’t be tamed a song she did when it was her first album after Hannah Montana, that she can’t be tamed even now and that’s set and stone. And I think she should be applauded for that. I love that you also pointed out that she can sing, because regardless of anyone’s opinion no one can deny her talent away from her. Please do more of Miley if you can.

Wait Tara… of all people… Tara… said she doesn’t carry herself like a woman should. Tara?! Has she seen how she dresses and acts. She’s like a 40 going on 50 year old still acting and dressing like she’s 21. Did she also forget she was on a tv show where she got down on all fours to sing seductively… she has zero room to talk about how a woman should carry herself.

Tbh, if those are your reservations about Miley, you should totally check out her song Golden G-String. It's one of the slower tracks on her latest album and chronicles her relationship to the industry, from manoeuvring around misogyny to being pitted as a role model for young girls. It's a really interesting listen!

One of my fav songs from Plastic Heart. It is so underrated
@RuuBjAh1 Жыл бұрын
@@Fati84021 I mean I really love that song, but it isn't one of my favorites off of Plastic Hearts, but that's mainly because it's so different from the rest of the album. The rest of the album is more grungy and uptempo and fun, mostly, and this song is way slower and more introspective. So usually I'm not into this song when I'm into the album, so that's why it's usually more of a skip for me. But I really do respect the sentiments that it has and love how unapologetically honest she is in it.

I've never been a big fan of Miley. However, between this and her latest covers of zombie and doll parts, i've been blown away by the honesty and maturity in the performances. I don't know if it's the trials and tribulations of life, but whatever it is, she now seems to truly relate to the songs and mean and feel the lyrics. She's so zoned out and in the moment, and I'm totally sold now.

@hannahbrown59953 жыл бұрын
I love how Miley's cover is totally the opposite to the original because she makes it her own and that's the essence of a good cover! I love the detached, cool, clear vocals of Debbie Harry and the pure fire, raw energy, growl from Miley equally!
@hannahbrown59953 жыл бұрын
Also Tara I used to feel like that about Miley but I think she's gone through a lot of phases in her image and music that most people would be going through privately, and she's an example of someone who embraces change and loves the homeless, which are great qualities for people to look to.
@GeorgideMarne3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, didn't do it for me, seemed a bit forceful. One of the great tricks of the original song is the "rock chick" singing in high register and the changes in registers, and Miley hasn't done that. It's a no for me.
@AlexeBriand20022 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgideMarne i honestly love how Miley just belts the entire time
@lisabrown6361 Жыл бұрын
@@GeorgideMarne I had a crush on a guy my entire four years of high school, same time this song came out. I found meaning from Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” to my own experience. Even after all that had happened, the cheating and uncertainty of where you stand, etc…the singer is triumphant. Blondie does not give a flying fig! “Moving right along! Next attraction!” “Ooh Ooh Ooo woa” She does not let the guy get under her skin, at all! Whereas Miley sounds angry and bitter. She let the guy get the better of her! I realize that if you do a cover, there’s no point in mimicking the original artist, what’s the use of that? But Ms. Cyrus, as great as her voice is, and as talented as she is, she misses the beauty of the song as Blondie sang it. Blondie was genius. Rock is FULL of songs about angry, sad, and bitter women who have been wronged. What you Don’t hear often is a song about a woman who is cool and triumphant.

The idea you have of Miley is kinda dated I feel. You should check out her tiny desk concert she did a couple months ago to see her progress and what she has been doing lately.

Tara I totally agree with you about mixed feelings about Miley, so did I until I saw her on a vid where street performers were surprised by celeb singers " i'e' . Miley" joining in on the song. Miley actually blew me away just singing raw live on the street, no gimmicks etc. She really has talent. I still like Debbie Harry's Heart of Glass, prob cause I played it for years but I must say Miley did an awesome job for a live version and Miley is Miley for the risque dress up. Still it's her voice delivery that does it for me. Thanks Tara, great reaction.

Also tho, I can understand where you’re coming from about how she’s not exactly a role model to look up to, but I honestly think she’s great. She’s made mistake yes, but it all ultimately made her who she is now and I find her so inspiring because she’s overcome SO many things in her life. She’s unapologetically herself which I adore. Plus, growing up in the limelight from SUCH a young age must be extremely difficult. I can only imagine what it would be like. I’m also so annoyed that whenever some people think of her, all they think of is her Wrecking Ball days, but what can ya do haha.

It’s a great performance. Can singers do that constant belting all show? Doesn’t it use, in your terms, a lot of vocal dollars? Or do you think the technique is so good it wouldn’t affect her that much? She really does seem to give it all in her performances lately. I think influenced abit by Beth Hart and others in that style of performing.

i actually watched this being filmed (back in 2020, it was the first virtual concert held) and she actually performed the song twice with a long, unexpected break between the two. from the way the band and produces were reacting, the audience could tell the break and the extra performance were not planned and honestly, i didn’t personally notice any major problems with either one of them. in fact, i still can’t tell which one of the two performances this is, just to give perspective on how similar they were. she seemed super nervous and self critical as well, which made us feel kind of off/uncomfortable, some people were even concerned for her in the moment because that sense of vulnerability from major artists like miley aren’t shown… we experience it ourselves within the learning process, but we don’t see the same struggles from famous artists. this was after her having to have vocal surgery as well, which is a whole other thing we don’t hear a lot about within the realm of the general public. having that as a memory to look back on, though, as i grow and learn, making mistakes while finding my voice is actually super reassuring! kinda wish it was more common to see behind the magic because it feels like simply sounding good when you sing is more obtainable to the average person coming from people you already know are amazing at their craft.
