Beth : I've never heard anyone describe Sarah's vocals like the ebb and flow of water. What a remarkably accurate description! Thumbs up! Keep up the great work

This song always gets me misty eyed - especially ever since it played after my grandfather's (opa's) funeral - got in the car, and what song comes on, this one! I've followed Sarah almost from day 1 (her second album, Solace, is what grabbed me - then Fumbling Towards Ecstasy came out, and I was hooked!!) Her voice is ethereal! It isn't conventional (especially those 'flips' you mention - but that kind of endears her to me). I've seen her live, and she is just magnificent, and she seems like a wonderful, very grounded person - but of course, many maritimers are! (she's from Nova Scotia)

A first-time commentator here, I found your channel a week ago (yes, I'm a Nightwish fan so that's how I found you ) and have been watching your old videos. I really love your passion for music. As far as Sarah is concerned, she is the master at capturing so much emotion with such subtle nuance. Also, Surfacing is a brilliant and iconic album and while "Angel" is the go-to "feels" song "Full of Grace" hits me every time and I get "Building a Mystery" stuck in my head for days.

@stupidas94665 ай бұрын
Sarah is not underrated or under appreciated, she just isn't as popular as someone of her talents should be. That is quite often the case as most of the time the most popular isn't actually very good, they/it just had the most backing/financing and appealed to a specific demographic that others could make the most money off of. Whether it's singers, songs, celebrities, movies, tv shows, etc, rarely does the cream rise all the way to the top.

It's always interesting to listen to Sarah sing this song live ( I've seen her in concert 5 times), because she sings this song in a slightly more upbeat manner than how it originally sounded on her album Surfacing ( track 7). Considering the inspiration for her writing this song (the overdose of Smashing Pumpkins keyboard player Jonathan Melvoin), she still is able to sing it in an upbeat manner. And she is a amazing person. Having had the chance to meet her and talk with her, she's very down to earth and easy going.

First time I've seen any reactor react to Sarah! I've been a fan of hers for years... she's soo good, and this song definitely brings on the tears. - Beth - if you haven't previously, I would suggest the band Avatar. They're a Swedish metal band that has great videos but are even better in their live performances (and in less than 1 mo. became my #2 must-see/bucket list concert). The lead singer can do anything with his voice and mixes techniques in many of their songs. I 'found' them when Two Rocking Grannies did their 1st reaction (which was to "Bloody Angel" at PolandRock). :)

I saw her Live in a club in Montreal in 1989, she had just released her first album and was not well known at all. Some of my friends heard she was supposed to be good, so we went. She started the concert alone on the stage in a simple dress using a headset/mike and she sang a 4 minute a cappella song. Everyone was blown away, she got a standing O. The rest was equally impressive.

Her voice changes in a moments notice from simply beautiful, to haunting, to playful, to passionate, to downright sexual - and any and all combinations of the above. In the first five seconds of her singing in this video i feel ALL of those things. So many artists that i love and are my personal favourites have one, and the odd time two, of these characteristics to their sound/performance. Simply astounding, in every sense of the word.
