Sia is one of the greatest singers of all time. Very different than but very up there with Celine Dion for me. All I know is I don't know nothing, BUT, I feel that occasionally some of her pronunciation is related to her accent (much less so now than in the mid 2000's when I first started listening to her). I'm just pointing out, she is Australian and for any native English speaker outside of Australia, there is a distinct accent even when singing. Since I mentioned Celine Dion, she is a native French speaker from BC Canada. In her early days you can prominently detect an accent when she sang. Even now, you can still slightly detect the accent. I think the same goes for Sia.

As a musician myself, the diaphragm is a muscle you cannot control. It is an involuntary muscle. When singers, vocal teachers, and wind teachers mention diaphragm they actually mean the abdominal muscles, the side oblique muscled, the lower back, and even the intercostal muscles between the ribs. There is some amazing video footage you can find here of X-ray video of singers showing that you cannot control you diaphragm muscle.

I'm not a woman, so I cant imagine what those feelings are like from a woman's perspective, but damn.. I've been through the "I'm gonna drink until the pain is gone, and I'm just going to make that my personality" phase. I excused it as just partying or recovering from a breakup, but I literally drank either 24 beers or 1.5Ltrs of liquor every day for years... A friend jokingly told someone "you do not want to go shot for shot with this man because he'll be the only one sober enough to take you to the hospital when you have alcohol poisoning." and it was heartbreakingly true. I became that guy. I embraced it for years. Fast forward 20 years... I'm still in that hole. In the past, I used to drink to hurt myself, but now I drink to stay myself, and I have troubles rationalizing it, but I am where I am, and I'm comfortable here now. Even if it's a lonely place, but I can't not think about what my life could have been. Who would I have been if I hadn't sunken so deep into this addiction?
