Hi Rebecca, this is one of the best Reaction video: For those of you who didn't understand the Indonesian traditional elements in the video, please let me explain to you: Kuda Lumping. You see those guys riding flat horses. Kuda Lumping is a traditional East Javanese dance. The dance portrays soldiers riding horses to the war. This dance originated from the war against the Dutch colonial forces as Indonesia was their colony. There are different type of performances in Kuda Lumping, and some include trances and magic tricks. That’s where you see the guy eating glass/bulb, blowing fire and eating fire, etc. Wayang kulit is a traditional form of puppet-shadow play originally found in the cultures of Java, Bali, and Lombok in Indonesia. In a wayang kulit performance, the puppet figures are rear-projected on a taut linen screen with a coconut-oil (or electric) light. This performance will include: As you see in video, there is this person holding a puppet like, he’s called Dalang. The dalang (puppeteer) manipulates carved leather figures between the lamp and the screen to bring the shadows to life. It's mainly about good vs evil. The gamelan orchestra is an integral part of the Javanese wayang kulit performance, and The musicians sit behind the dalang. The performance is accompanied by female singers (pesinden) and she might also dancing. You see in the video where the lady with traditional Javanese outfit dances, that’s pesinden. It's about mystical myth goddess lathi's toxic relationship with prince majapahit (ancient long before Indonesia even existed).he used her for his own interest and she then learnt black magic ( santau/ Indonesian: santet ) that kill the prince and his followers without touching them. That's the black sorceress you see right there.. The Javanese line reads : no one can escape from mistakes. One's own worth/dignity is on his lathi (tongue/ words). His harshness verbal & physical has turned her evil to avange her pains and sufferings. We can see many elements of indonesian culture there. Shadow puppets (wayang kulit), traditional dance ( don't know what's it called), kuda kepang /kuda lumping. You can also hear gamelan beat ( traditional musical instrument) collide with EDM in this song. Perfect blend between modern music and culture. Kudos to weird genius for this masterpiece!

"Lathi" in old Javanese means tongue, but in the context of the lyrics it really means someone's "speech". Basically one's integrity or self-worth is reflected through someone's speech; either it's truthful and helps your loved ones grow, or full of lies and let him/her down. There's an Indonesian proverb with a similar message: "one's tongue can be sharper than knife." Java is the main island of Indonesia, and Javanese is one of 300 ethnic groups in Indonesia. Their culture is a concoction of indigenous, Islamic, Hindu, and Buddhist influences. The metal puppet is wayang, there's folk dance, instruments mixed with techno and pop in the song.

and that puppet show, called wayang kulit, the guy who perform it called dalang. this art from java as well in the past it perform for telling legend story with meaningful value, or learning value from each story. the story usually perform in wayang kulit are from Mahabarata, etc. and the langauge they use is kromo inggil java (the most posh java language) equivalent with old English.
