Heck yeah! Onewe are my boys! This band actually was formed by the members when most of them were in high school. Harin (drums), Kanghyun (guitar), and Giuk (bass) met at the music academy they went to and started the band together. They needed a vocalist so Giuk invited his neighbor Dongmyeong (keyboard / vocals) to join them. These four got asked to be session band for a singing competition, and somehow got the idea to ask the winner of that competition to join their band. The winner of course being Yonghoon (main vocal / guitar occasionally) who despite being a college student, decided that placing his career in the hands of a bunch of high schoolers was a good idea, and well, the rest is history. The members do write their own music, but they tend to song write individually, or in pairs, which is fun because you never know what you are going to get since the members have pretty distinct styles.

Richard, yes, ONEWE members write or contribute to composing most of their songs. AuRoRa was written by Kanghyun (guitarist), Jeon Da Woon (producer at their label, RBW), YongHoon (lead vocalist) and Giuk (bass guitar and rapper). Thanks for this reaction!!!

Glad you like ONEWE! They're one of the hidden gems of South Korea. Here are some facts about them: they're self-produced! All the members write and compose their music, but Giuk (guitar, rapper, and youngest) takes the lead on production alongside RBW's producers. Their history is quite interesting. They formed their band independently and then joined a label. Harin (Drums), Kanghyun (Guitar), Dongmyeong (Vocals & Keys), and Giuk (Bass & Rap) formed the band together since they knew each other beforehand. They then met Yonghoon (Lead Vocals) at a competition and asked him to join the group. After that, they were recruited by RBW and officially debuted as Onewe. Some of my favourite songs are: Star, Regulus, Rain to be and Reminisce about all Hope you can check them out because they truly are amazing!

Thanks for listening to ONEWE! They are fairly unknown in the mainstream music sphere, but their quality shows, and us fans are super loyal and supportive for any recognition they get. As others have mentioned, all of the members take part in writing, composing and producing their songs. All of them have formal musical training, and play several instruments, even cross-training each other in different instruments. (Ex: the drummer is actually an accomplished pianist). This musicality of all of the members always shows through in their songs, in a way, the guitar/drum solos are a way for those members to "sing" and have time to shine. It very much gives the feeling of more "retro" Western rock bands, and I love it. ONEWE sounds like their discography would really suit your taste!! Most of their songs have guitar solos and their vocal parts are distributed perfectly (everyone gets to shine!) The lead singer is insanely good too. I recommend Montage for hard rock like this one, Rain To Be for latin/pop rock and Regulus for soft rock:) And yes they write their own songs (especially lyrics are almost entirely by the members only) Aurora is written by Kanghyun, the blue haired guitarist.

I think one of the reasons guitar solos don’t work in most western songs is because they’re there just to be there.. with Onewe and many other eastern bands (especially ones that write their own stuff) it’s made to actually fit the song.. and not just because it’s thrown in there.. that my two cents on it at least.. I love watching folks discover Onewe. They are criminally underrated given how talented they are. I recently watched a different channel do a reaction to them and they really didn't like that this band has multiple vocalists. It felt good to see you talk about a very famous and well loved Western band with multiple singers.

So happy to see this reaction! ONEWE are so skilled, and I really enjoyed hearing your perspective on them; you hit the nail on the head when you noted that they seemed to have a good understanding of where each person's vocals (and instrumentals, too) would fit, since they've been together as a group for 9 years now. Regarding ONEWE's songwriting, everyone in the band has written at least one song, but the main songwriters of the group are Kanghyun (guitarist), Giuk (bassist/rapper), and Yonghoon (main vocalist). Kanghyun was the main composer/writer for AuRoRa, although others were also involved in its creation. If you're interested in checking out more ONEWE songs, I'd suggest Montage_, Parting, and Universe for a variety of different sounds (also, each of those songs has a different member as the main songwriter).

This was an exciting surprise. Onewe is my favorite Kband and the lead singer Yonghoon has the voice I love the most. You will get a different sounding song based on which member was most responsible for the track. Don't know what song we will see next but look forward to it.

Onewe (yes, One-we, their brother group is Oneus) members have a hand in writing and arranging all their music and they are so talented and underrated!!! They deserve to be much bigger than they are. I also recommend their songs Parting (the first I heard from them and has both normal and acoustic versions), A Book in Memory, End of Spring, Reminisce About All, and Universe_. Aurora is definitely my favorite though. Yonghoon (lead vocal) has a voice that is just so unmatched. He can do power, he can go soft. It’s so beautiful, and Dongmyeong (keys) is a wonderful main vocal to pair with him in harmony.

Thank you for the enjoyable reaction! It was great to see you even repeat the solo, it's worth the love hahah As many people have told you guys already, they do write their songs themselves and decide the line distribution, including the sections for the raps which are always written by bassist/rapper Giuk! Usually they write songs individually and then come to the other members to complete and polish it with their own expertise, and they have the support of a company producer, who also sometimes writes songs for them (fun fact: guitarist Kanghyun started a "star/space series" of songs, to which AuRoRa belongs, and this even inspired the producer to write a song of this theme for them, named "Star"!). Either way they are always heavily involved, and sometimes even participate in songs by other artists of the company. This song was mainly composed/written by guitarist Kanghyun! For similar ones, you may enjoy other by him like Parting (curiously inspired by a dream of a meteor falling towards earth and the desperation of having some final words to loved ones) and Shoot it out (originally with the topic of quantum mechanics lol, he's a huge bookworm and loves such stuff) or Montage_ and TRAUMA by bassist Giuk - the latter is among my faves, drawing inspiration from his own traumatic experience almost drowning once. Main vocalist Yonghoon tends to write more mellow and dramatic emotional songs, like Universe_ or Reminisce about all (inspired by his past hardship, with the message of "even the bad moments become memories"), while singer/keyboardist Dongmyeong has a more jazzy smooth style with a focus on themes important to him as in Trigger_ (which expresses the desire to fight against prejudice and unfair standards), and drummer Harin surprisingly enjoys making softer and delicate songs like Envision_, which expresses the feeling of being stuck in routine like a child in a wall looking up to the faraway stars. Got the BTS vocal vibe with this band. They sing in two languages and mix vocals with rap. One of their singers sounds like Jin, and the rapper has similar style to Suga's rap flow. And yeah, some could say they sound like The Rose. Good sound--need to hear more. 😀

what's funny about the two languages thing is, this song has some of the most english out of all their songs lol (besides entirely english songs/versions, that is). many of my favorite songs of theirs have zero english, half the songs from their most recent mini album have zero english, and sometimes the only english is a single word or phrase said once or twice.

Most of the things you mentioned are more of a Kpop thing generally than a hallmark of BTS. Incorporating vocals and rap as well as mixing English in happens with a lot of Kpop songs.
