Through the Fire is one of my favourite songs, sung by the incomparable Chaka Khan and this is my favourite version from Gigi. So much control, a little Sass, Swag and that vocal range cullmenating in such a tasteful rendition, adsolutely gorgeous. The very essence of Gigi Vibes. There's a couple of male vocalists from my country I think you'll both love. They're indigenous to NZ and very proud of their culture Maori (pronounced Mo-rdee or Mouldy) Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi better known as Teeks a Soul/RnB Tenor. As an introduction to his music "First Time" or "Te Ahi Kai Po", preferably the Live version. Stan Walker Soul/RnB/Reggae/Gospel singer came to the attention of Director Ava DuVernay who was looking for something new/different to do the seminal song to her latest movie "Origin". Co-Producer Paul Garnes showed her Stan's cover of Kanye West's Ultralight Beam. After watching it several more times, she immediately sort him out on his IG to see they had any mutual acquaintances. Fortunately there was one, NZ Film Producer Chelsea Winstanley, Ava DM'd Chelsea, Chelsea got in touch with Stan and 24hrs later they were on the phone. Needless to say Stan was commissioned to write the song, Ava sent the movie for Stan to review. Stan alongwith some colleagues, wrote the song, performed, filmed, edited and produced the music video of locations around Stan's ancestral roots and sent it to Ava in 2 1/2 weeks. Ava was absolutely thrilled with the song/video adding only a few snippets from the movie before promoting it. "I AM" is Stan's interpretation of the movie from his cultural perspective. Checkout his "Ultralight Beam" cover first and then "I Am". I personally and I'm absolutely certain that many Maori/Kiwi's/Stan fans would love to hear the Professional analysis of 2 Vocal Coaches in the industry.
