@FiveMinuteCall3 жыл бұрын
This is actually a normal sensation. As you add more resistance your vocal tract will expand slightly due to the pressure - and you can often feel this. Just make sure it still feels balanced, so don't overload with too much pressure!

There's a couple of things to be mindful of here. It's likely that these notes are across a break, so you'll need to work to strengthen them and help to blend and transition across them. There's also the factor of the breath, and that the breath pressure requirements change with pitch. So you might need to explore boosting the breath pressure slightly for lower pitches.
@krakaka82184 жыл бұрын
Yeah, its probably the breath. Low notes need to be backed up with a bit more support. Remember keep your chest/shoulders relaxed breath with the belly.

Yes, these exercises are designed specifically to take advantage of the physics of straw phonation. There are certain airflow, acoustic, and pressure interactions that are modified when using a straw, and we leverage this to provide an athletic style workout for the intricate muscles of the voice.

As the comments elude to, any kind of cylindrical object with opposing apertures will work. However, they probably won't work as well as they should or could, especially for you voice. The degree to which these effects occur are dependent on the resistance of the straw and its length. Individual differences mean that a single straw cannot be applied to all voices, and they're also task dependent too. You might find that you need a narrower straw to get a better workout, you might also find that you need a longer/shorter straw too. Really play around and explore what works for you, and be mindful about choosing a length and aperture configuration that'll suit your voice and your unique vocal needs. I have lots more info on my website, so check the link in the description for more. :)

Was wondering this myself, I just switch whenever it starting to feel uncomfortable. The excercise eventually connects/blends chestvoice with the headvoice.

Not sure if I'm doing it right or not, my throat feels itchy like? Like it hurts and I coughed a lot

It sounds like you are using a very thin/long straw which is providing too much resistance. It might also be that you're outputting too much of a pressed-pressurised sound. I recommend finding a wider straw 6mm (approx) and using it with about 1cm of water. This should make things more therapeutic and eliminate the issues.

A colony of cicadas has moved into my home and are now trying to mate with me. Is this normal?
