Diana is a force of nature. She is a contralto, which is rare. Here she was 14 or 15 on a talent show for underpriviliged children to help them along in life. One of the jurors is Igor Krutoy, the Russian composer who works with Dimash a lot. He gave her an appartement in Moscow to study there. Diana was taken from her abusive mother as a young child and put in an orphanage. The physiotherapist there adopted her. At the time Diana hardly spoke, so her adoptive mother sent her to a vocal coach, who discovered her talent.

After the initial shock of hearing The Only Voice like this, in all universes, you will start not caring about the lows and the highs of Diana's vocals, you will start loving how She makes you feel, with her voice. As one judge said "She is not singing, she is Creating worlds". Diana, 14-15 year old girl that takes souls and minds to places so beautiful we did not know existed. Asia, you were hooked from the first note; it took BJ a while to start feeling it. "Most Unique voice" is the closest words, but still falls short. She is a true contralto (15 yrs old!!) but she did not go to her lowest range in this song. she only used 1-1/2 Octaves. It is the way she uses the notes, the color, timbre and tone; She is painting and telling you a story with her vocals. Every song you will hear from her, will be different. Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human. First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. It is a gift from God, and others have called it the Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. A little back story to this amazing young lady, she was abandoned to the streets of arsenyev, Russia at the age of 3 with a BROKEN collerbone, taken in by an orphanage and was later adopted by one of the orphanage staff, such was the trauma she suffered, she was unable to speak, she was introduced to music as a form of speech therapy, she was 15 when she performed this song, this was a competition for disadvantaged children called you are SUPER, which she won 2yrs in a row, she is 17now, she's a wonderful talent, I think DIANA and MORISSETTE AMON are going to be the next big things, and if they are not, there is something wrong in the industry, the world needs these talents because these are the two best on the planet.

I love seeing new people discovering Diana Ankudinova. I especially enjoyed how you had a real discussion about what you were hearing, instead of just pausing to say "wow", like a lot of reactors have done. You aren't wrong to compare Diana to Cher, though a lot of fans just hate comparisons (maybe a bit over-protective). I think that Cher possibly doesn't maintain the lower registers for the entire time of a song, the way Diana is capable of doing. Even more amazing is the fact that she is only 15 in this video! There are a lot of great performances from her on this show, especially her performance of Rechenka (River), which is truly primal sounding. She also has a great cover of James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World", which is great. (So does Angelina Jordan, by the way). As for other covers and originals, last year, in quarantine, some fans provided her with some professional studio equipment. She performed two really good covers and posted them on KZbin in thanks for that. Although she is young it is clear she has put in a lot of work and practice. It is not often you hear a contralto this young and she is fairly technically sound in this song. Interesting to see Igor Krutoy. I could see him working with her in the future since her voice is a rarity.
