YOOOO You and I both. It's the top notes, Anything above a G4, sounds like Franklin to me. I don't know If she can act, but I thought she would have been a better option for a movie part as Ms. Franklin, than Jhud. I used to think it wasn't an option because of the amount of trills Sullivan is known for. Where as Franklin belts a lot of notes (and has some of her own trills if you look through her live catalogue), I saw this first at the BET Aretha Franklin Tribute.

Thank you for sharing your insights on this performance. I wanted to add a couple notes to highlight your points. 1- Not only did Eric Church hold the pocket for her musically, he held it for her politically as well. With all that's happened since June 2020 and especially since Jan 2021, having a black woman sing was a statement. Eric Church held the note for white people to sing along and for the white people who stood for Trump could also feel like this was their song too. Secondly, Jazmine gave beautiful homage to Whitney Houston with her ensemble. She wore a studded head dress similar to what Whitney wore as Queen of the Night. And Whitney wore a white wind breaker jump suit for her anthem. Jazmine similarly wore a white suit. In her interview with a Philly native journalist (sorry I'm not recalling the journalist's or the network's name), this point was noted and Jazmine acknowledged it. (Editted to remove autocorrect typos.)

As for Jazmine's top range - I've heard her do runs up to G# back to back (belt). Which tells me she can probably sing AT LEAST a B-flat which is crazy (she has a very easy B-flat in head voice which she sings every show in In Love With Another Man). I've always felt like she trained her voice down rather than up. Her song Don't Make Me Wait shows a bit more of her unmodified timbre.
