Because of her, she made her&the NightWish-followers look for her, and because of that they wanted to know what is going on in this show. And because of Denise a great part of the World is talking of this show. And there you're right. I immediately subscribed Valerie&Denise from day one of the broadcast of "Beste Zangers I allready follow Emma die a while and I knew Floor because a friend told me a couple of years ago about her and NightWish. And what I really love are the reactions of all the methalfans for Floor. But also for the other singers. Chapeau. Nice to let you all know (besides the Netherlands🇳🇱 because they allready could read it) : Yesterday, 1st October 2019, Henk Poort achieved 1 million views on You Tube a couple of data ago, with Sound of Silence. Having been an IT-trainer I know how impactful saying the right words at the right time at the right pitch and volume can be. Although I'm not an expert on singing, I feel like it's about the same. I believe Floor's ability to keep this small and intimate really shows her talent. Nuances can really bend ' the story' to a whole different level. She can definitely do that. Belting can be simply a showoff unless you use it exactly where it is needed. Your comments are enlightening. Thanks for that.

Tension is generally bad for singing of any kind, and therefore, it is a good thing to be relaxed. :-D I was thinking that she might have also used that stool as a prop to channel Lady Gaga, whom I saw singing while playing a piano. However, it is more likely that I am over-thinking it a bit.

Excellent reaction and analysis Valerie. I love watching your reaction videos. I love to focus on her body language and subtle movements of her hands and shoulders. Also the way she brushes her hair out of the way. I will say it again Floor is a Master Storyteller. I feel like I am watching a Master Class on vocalization and musical Theater. I think some of the younger singers feel the same way judging by the looks on their faces. Even Henk Poort looks at Floor with furrowed brows as if he is trying to evaluate her techniques.

I like to think about Floor´s voice as if it was the river. And in this song it can be represented partly by the mountain stream. There are bubbles that represent a certain amount of breathiness that can be found in her singing. Even just a small obstacle can substantially change its course as can in singing this small a completely different sound be produced based on a small difference in vocal cords closure or shape of lips. But as with any river, you must be careful not to understimate calm water´s surface, because there are strong undercurrents that can easily catch you unaware and sweep you off your feet. Here Floor is singing softly, but the power is always there right under the surface to be summoned, if she needs it! Thank you for your analysis, Valerie. I watched the show on telly and this is my favorite contribution so far from Floor. First thing that came to mind was "What's Valerie gonna say about this one" Checked a few times if you've already put a reaction video online. Now it is there. I really like that you appreciate Floor keeping it small. We all know she could make it really big if she wanted to and hit it out of the park. Like i said before, it;s so lovely to see your love for this show. What did you think of Ruben? Wow so incredible gutsy to sing " Can't Help Falling in love " to Emma of all people. And he nailed it, nowhere to hide with that song. He's got some explaining to do to his own girlfriend :) Unbelievable that boy is only 20. BTW. I would love to see a reaction to a song out of 2018 season where opera singer mezzo-soprano Maria Fiselier is rapping Eminem's Lose Yourself. Interesting you mentioned word paiting. There's an interview from Face culture where they interview Floor and the interviewer ask about techniques and feelings and Floor replies that the she sees her voice as the basic colors and techniques as extra colors that you can add to the painting, the songs, so the more techniwue you have, the more variety you can use in your songs. If you wanna see/listen Floor knocking out of the park another cover, you should check "Alone" by After Forever( her first band). They turned that rock song into a piano and voice version. It's a really beautiful and powerful song. More People should listen to that version. I also see that not many people talk about her previous work with After Forever or Revamp. When you have the time, please check them out. I guarantee that you won't regret it.

What amazes me is that Floor can sing the most difficult songs with the same ease, as you or i, when making a sandwich. I believe this is one of those songs, that sound easy enough, but are actually very difficult to pull of right. Because... there is nowhere to hide, the slightest mistake will show like a forest fire in the night, you WILL notice. And ofc, Floor is flawless again, the Metal world is lucky to have her, and by proxy, everyone else is too. Let me try to summ up Floors performance here 1:12 Rolf strikes again,showing what most of us guys sound like when we see Floor (Ok ok ok ok,im sorry Floor,i meant when we hear your voice....dont hit me!) 3:16 Not many have noticed that here,but Floor is struggling not to crack into a huge smile,because she tried looking on Emma who shes honoring this song to. And we all know Emma has the cutest,most adorable,infectious smile! I cant blame Floor for fighting not to smile too much here!😍😍3:35 What did i just tell you on the 3 16 mark?😍😍I love theese 2 beauties more then words can describe! Hey...i just thought of something. Them doing a duet together on record,wich releases on Emmas debut album? IM DOWN!!(i`ll buy 10 copies,and send to 9 friends too,thats how much i want that happening)5:35 Just me turning into a mushroom cloud again....Emma? You need to STOP! You too Floor! I mean it! 5:47 I think it was Henk and Rolf who knew of Floor slightly from before. But Rolf has the expression of "Where did you come from? And where did you get that VOICE from?!" I love it! And the rest didnt even know of her,so the other artists said they had to google Symphonic Metal,once she explained where she came from,what she did and the bands she has been a part of. Here Floor has another one of her abilities,to give people that charming,seductice look with her hypnotic eyes,and her smile. Anyway,i saw more videos recommended from this channel,and clicking on them i saw not even a like from me,wich is a indicator that i havent watched the video. So here i am,dropping some YT love your way! And let me give a shoutout to wonderful Denise (i see her charming self in the comment section lol) Amazing work she has done with translating the Dutch language for reaction channels! She does it with the best intentions for the artists too,but i fear that Article 13 will still punish European KZbinrs and Streamers hard from 2020 and out. I hope it gets protested enough on,and manages to make whoever is running that thing,to listen to reason. A band like Nightwish has exploded in fanbase,and ticket sale worldwide,DVD/BluRay sales etc since reaction channels got aware of her and the band,and started giving them valuable PR to everyone who followed the channel,and even beyond that! Denise just wants as many as possible to understand what Floor and other Dutch artists are saying in theyr native language,make it user friendly also for non Dutch speaking viewers.

As someone said in another video. Floor has more power in her soft voice then most singers have in their belt voice. Music is emotion and Floor not only knows this but she has this almost inhuman power to connect to a song that is not hers or relates to a situation that she is not in (like: about love i dont know a thing).

What a great reaction/review on your part. What can't Floor do?... waiting ...waiting... apparently nothing if she decides to do it. Once again we are all amazed as she took a mega Lady Gaga duet hit and changed it while still holding true to the song itself. Your explanation of the mechanics really show just how much work and effort goes into each one of her songs and while we are amazed by the end result she really works at getting to that stage. This charted on the Dutch I-Tunes as #1 and Floor the most talented Non-Dive did a quick "Thank You" to all her fans old and new while driving to Finland to do a video for the new Nightwish album coming out in early 2020 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmetpHiIeZKFiZI) just total class no wonder everyone loves her. Who ever thought the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal would sing a Lady Gaga song softer than the original. Again the 2.0 Floor version strikes again!!! One of the best reviews of this I have heard period!!

You know what I've noticed about Floor, and I must say it's kinda cute....... somehow she has difficulties pronouncing the word "Something", she pronounces it like; "Sonfing". There are loads of people having problems with the right pronounciation of the "th" sound, but they have it with all the words containing the "th". Floor however, only has it with the word "Something" and not only in lyrics but also in interviews when she has to use this specific word. In this song the first sentence; "Tell me somethin' girl." she pronounces it like; "Tell me sonfin' girl" LOL I just love it, so cute ;)

Hi Valerie, I like very much the way you analyse and give comments to the videos generally. You are real musician , never stop the video in the middle of phrases ;-) For me, Floor Jansen is really unique person. Doing so many different styles of singing and equally good. She is very talented and I am sure that in the future she will give more surprises . So , next year will be Nightwish year. The new album is coming and live shows starts . They sale tickets already . Let see what the future will bring . Really loved your analyses. Maybe you should also take a look at vocalist Sharon den Adel from the symphonic metal band Within Temptation who participated in last years (2018) Belgium version of this show called "Liefde voor muziek (For the love of music)". What is the difference between a voice teacher and a vocal coach?

That's an interesting question. In the classical world, voice teachers are the voice builders who know anatomy and physiology (how to sing) , while coaches work on the musical phrasing and work more on what to sing. But in the pop/rock world the term voice teacher and vocal coach are pretty much the same. I think that people like to refer to their voice teachers as vocal coaches because it sounds better. lol
