Thanks for your comment yazik, I'm a huge fan of naqiu 😊, I understand your comment , to your information , Naqiu is a vocalist band , around 2001, which is named Boboy , he was 15 years old at that time and his voice didn't raspy like this, after he decided to quit singing long ago, he worked as a nightclub singer , every day he would sing almost 20 or 50 song different genre and almost rock songs in every night , and that time he realized his vocals turned raspy, and he didn't hurt his voice or deliberately make it sound like that. and in this competition, almost every week he uses scream vocal technique, i am also a fan, sometimes very worry about his vocal health, but he seems learned a lot about that technique when working at nightclub . and, if you ask him about his fans , yes, he have a lot fans , not only in malaysia, but also in singapore and brunei , and im his fans from singapore actually 😊 he has performed in brunei big concerts in the past, using the same stage that michael jackson used, and many of his fans attended that concerts. and if you notice, in this comment, some fans may be offended by your comment 😅 maybe they not understand your reaction , and the song that he sing, is song of a lagend rock singer in malaysia , who passed away a few years ago, and to your information , Naqiu's singing style is almost identical to the original, and indeed it is sung like that. thank you...

Great going Yazik! It’s a song about a regret of sorts from a boy to a girl called Juwita. Naqiu shot to stardom as vocalist in a teen pop group called Boboy in 2001. He has later been in the nite club scene for more then a decade. He’s 34 this year. His rendition JUWITA is from the late Malaysian rock singer, Salem. There is this annual competition in Malaysia whereby past celebrities compete against one another for the championship. Rightly so, you noticed the lady that stood as in a previous videos. She is kind of a permanent judge of the competition. She is Hetty Koes Endang, the much respected singer from Indonesia and very popular in Malaysia. Back to Naqiu; you should listen to his very emotional rendition of Srikandi Cintaku (My Heroine) from the same competition that catapulted him to being crowned as Winner. He sang that song very professionally and in dedication to his late mother. That song was composed by famed composer/singer M Nasir. Do check it out.

Hi Yazik, just for your information, Naqiu started his singing career back in 2001 as a vocalist in boy band called boboy. His been singing since he was in the highschool. As the time passed by his band name been washed out by the new generation singer and his talent was forgotten. So this competition "GEGAR VAGANZA" is for all the existing talented singer in Malaysia which their talent was forgotten (sort of like their epic come back :D). You should try to watch his finale performance on the competition tho (link provided below). By the way i believe that is his original voice because throughout the 11 weeks of competition his voice sounded the same (he can't be sick for 11 week right? :D) but i understand your concern as a vocal coach. All you want is the singer to done their best in performance and not hurting themselves. I appreciate that alot. Thank you for all your sincere reactions. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

That is his natural tone/voice, some Malaysian & Indonesian singers have this kind of tone. I never seen any other country singers who has this kind of voice yet though(I dunno that many artist). Thats why u get confused i guess. If Yazik listen to Saleem(Iklim) voice he would get it more i think.

So many butthurt commenters.. Yazik is just questioning if his vocals are at a healthy placement that is sustainable in the long run. Sebab bole rosak suara if sala technique. Infact actually his voice from his younger days is much different and not as raspy as it is now. For us pendengar biasa mmg la tk kesah his vocal technique ok ke tk, asalkan sedap didengar.
