I don't think either is straight better than the other (beatbox vs. no beatbox). They are just different styles of music for different tastes and occasions. When you don't have a dedicated beatboxer, you can sing a lot of old music which was written for unplugged performance in big rooms (churches and later concert halls) by bigger choirs where a beatboxer simply would not carry. Personally, I like to be able to have a much more clearer sound of the beautiful harmonies without the beatbox "getting in the way". But overall, I am glad we can listen to both styles and it would be sad if all acapella ensembles would sound the same.
