Utter vocal and choral perfection. The shifts between the dissonance and unison are mind blowingly good!

Martha Troly-Curtin once wrote in one of her books the line: "The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time". Every time I listen to one of the songs sung by Voces8 Every time I listen to the beautiful voices of Voces 8 Every time I write down a few words I never feel like I'm wasting my time.❤

I sang in a girl’s choir in high school and I thought we were somewhat good, but not anywhere near what VOCES8 is capable of. I revere this incredible group of the finest singers I ever heard. 🎶

I used to have my favorite rock bands. Now that they have all died off, and I gained more of an education and appreciation of music, I now turn to my go-to "band," voces8. It takes a lot of work, talent, and dedication to be this consistently high-quality...and soooo enjoyable. I have been through every possible genre from my childhood (1950's), classical, jazz, folk, rock, Grateful Dead, "world" music, big-bands & standards, country, blues, Bulgarian choirs, Frank Zappa, and anything else I had an eclectic taste for...and these days I'm lovin' me some choral, and the top of the heap, imo, is voces8, so many thanks. Blake, get a haircut.
@MrBillmechanic3 күн бұрын
NO!!!! BLAKE, DO NOT GET A HAIRCUT !!!! You are one of the most manly, masculine, competent, and talented a capella singers / musicians that God has put on this earth. Yes......even beautiful, for a man. SO KEEP THAT HAIR ! This rendition of Tavener's "The Lamb" is no less than reference standard, and worthy of diligent study for choirs wishing to sing this piece. Few people realize that singers of VOCES8 caliber are elitist athletes who must keep their physical bodies in shape, and who constantly work to increase their breathing capacity and breath control. This rendition of "The Lamb" is amazing, bringing tears to one's eyes. I have never before heard some of the phrases of this piece held for so long a time, with such precision of tone and shaping of sound from crescendo to diminuendo..........with complete control.

It is interesting to see how someone already 500 years ago tried with dissonances, not seeking a total harmony all the time. And as always VOCES8 are superb in their singing.

Thank you all for your beautiful voices. I saw Molly's dad, Timothy, years ago in the late 90s playing the organ for the Canterbury Cathedral Choir. I was a member of Atlanta, GA Cathedral off St Phillip and they all visited us. My grandmother and my father traveled from out of state to visit especially for the concert. Voces8 is indeed a perfect harmony of songs that has healed me through the deaths and separations of people who I will love in my life. I cannot thank you all enough. Blessings!

The dissonances, that then resolve into consonances, are meant to convey the wonder, the awe and the mystery of the Incarnation--that (as Christians believe) Jesus came down from heaven and was born as a human being just to be with us humans. God with us.

I have to agree. The color of this piece is unsettling. Perhaps, given the title, that's the point. Still, not a pleasant piece, to my ears. Well sung, here, no doubt. Just sitting uncomfortably on my hearing.
