Double-sided 33 RPM record including six field recordings, showcasing sounds of about twenty different bird species. An English translation of the elaborate sleeve notes can be found on the bottom of this description. [Too bad - there is no room left in this limited description space for the original Dutch notes.]
Side 1:
Paasmorgen (Easter morning)
Aan de bosrand (On the edge of the forest)
In het bos (In the forest)
Side 2:
Op de akker (On the field)
Bij het meer (By the lake)
Lentestemming (Spring mood)
A Discogs description of the record can be found here www.discogs.co... . The sleeve notes refer to the lengthy 'Hoor de vogels'-series of birdsong recordings (featuring isolated sounds of single species), issued by Europese Fonoclub www.discogs.co... .
I do not own the copyrights of these recordings, this presentation is just here as a museum piece.
Sleeve notes:
"Side 1
1. In the top of a pine tree on the left, a blackbird is singing, while on the right in the distance, a wood pigeon is calling. Then the tinkling notes of a robin can be heard on the front right. Far away in the center, a cuckoo is calling and crows are cawing. Soon after the town clock has struck five, the Easter bells begin to chime.
2. On the left in the pine forest, a crow is calling in the distance. On the front right, in the young plantation of oaks and beeches, a fieldfare is chattering. At the back right, in the crowns of the pines, a coal tit is calling, followed by a goldcrest shortly afterwards. On the front left, a willow warbler is singing, as always in a minor key. In the second part of the recording, we hear the calling fieldfare flying from right to left.
3. In the early morning, the stormy song of a thrush can be heard on the front right. A cuckoo is calling on the back left, and a wood pigeon even further away in the center. After some time, the thrush flies to the back, but returns to its original singing post in two stages, giving the recording a beautiful depth effect. Finally, we hear a church tower clock striking in the distance on the left.
Side 2
4. In the distance, on the left, a rooster crows on its dung heap on a farmyard. First on the right, then on the left, and then on the right again, we hear skylarks trilling above field and meadow. In the distance, the sounds of grazing cattle bells mix with the cawing of crows.
5. While the morning mists still hover above the lake, the alternating song of two cuckoos can be heard from the opposite bank. From the right comes the powerful beat of a nightingale. On the front left, an oriole is calling, and behind it an icterine warbler is singing.
6. While the call of a great tit is heard on the front left, we hear the mournful song of a robin on the right. In the background, a great spotted woodpecker and a grey-headed woodpecker are drumming. (The latter species has only been found once in the Netherlands.)
