Un extraordinnaire moment de musique, tel que le magnifique Georg Friedrich Händel sait composer! Un bel hymne à l'amour, malgré sa connotation capricieuse et jalouse.

Isn't this a most enchanting aria by Inger Dam-Jensen (at 2:00) in the role of Partenope (Copenhagen - 2008)... all the better with a truly baroque orchestra! If we could only have more Handel with Det Kongelige Teater and Lars Ulrik Mortensen (Concerto Copenhagen)! Please... more... (We already have Giulio Cesare from 2005.)

Wonderful singing by a very skillful cast. And, per usual, the mindless "production," looking like something a junior high student would make up, ruins the whole thing, turning all the characters into hyperactive exhibitionists when Handel has written a moment of reflection within carefully balanced conflict. When will the operatic world grow up and reject a style of staging and interpretation that would be laughed off the stage in the legitimate theater? There is nothing creative, cutting-edge or insightful in this b.s., only the desperate avoidance of listening to what the composer is actually saying. Pitiful, and a waste of the talents of the players and cast.

Unfortunately, when I clicked on this sight.... I thought it WAS a high school production...except that the some of the singers were VERY good !!
