Marcelito has finally signed with the record label. He did a cross-country American concert tour in small venues, which he loved doing. There is another version of this where the voices do not overlap. I found it on the Stangerfm youtube channel. It is worth listening to. It is amazing. To think he was abandoned in poverty at age 7 is beyond belief. He went through hell as a vulnerable child, but he remained kind, gentle, funny, and humble. He has a major charity in the Philippines where he actually works side by side with others.

Marcelito was orphaned at age 7 and raised himself on the streets of a poverty ridden city in Phililpines. He started singing to ease his fear and loneliness. He cleaned chicken coops for coins and sang to the chickens. He is completely self taught and has had no musical training of any kind. He sings in 6 languages, male and female voices, and all genres of music. He’s my number 1 singer of all times. He’s a very generous person. Thanks for you review & yes he has a very special talent & voice.

Filipinos are bi-lingual: they speak Pilipino and English well. You have to understand that communications in government offices are done in English and the medium of instruction in our schools is English. When English is being mixed with Pilipino, the term for this is Taglish. The Philippines has dialects being spoken internally and we have about 170 of them, an indication that Filipinos are of different ethnicity like, Ilocanos, Visayas, Pampangueno, Zambuangeno, and so on.

It’s called Taglish (Tagalo-English). And no. Marcelito isn’t fluent in English. In fact, he spoke only Tagalog while growing up and begun to learned some English only when he started to earn a lot of money and that was after winning the grand prize at the Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011, which I believe, he hired an English tutor. He was then, I guess, 28 y/o.
